A More Friendly Bout

Hado and Amajiki walked side-by-side in the underbelly of the stadium, on their way to begin their round of the semifinals. Hado wasn't nervous per se; She was already excited to have made it to the semifinals, but couldn't help but worry that she had gotten by on some easier matches. She watched Matthew fight tooth and nail to climb up to the grand finals, whereas her most intense fight (that being her match with Kenranzaki) hadn't done much more than dislocate her shoulder in the end. She knew Amajiki was an incredibly tough opponent, as much as he would deny it, which both excited and concerned her. She wanted more than anything to face off against Matthew in the Grand Finals, and hated that she would have to knock Amajiki out of the running to do so. Well, if she wanted to win it all Matthew would have to lose too, so maybe that logic was a bit flawed.

"A-are you okay, Hado?" Amajiki's voice shook, nervous as always.

"Hm? Yeah, I'm fine." She looked down to see his hands shaking. "Are you alright? You seem pretty nervous..." Not that Amajiki being nervous was any different than usual, but she wasn't about to say that out loud.

     "Yeah..."

"Upset stomach?" It was an odd question, but Hado had figured that since he eats a lot of seafood for his quirk...

Amajiki shook his head. "No, I just... I'm afraid I'll go too far and h-hurt you."

"Amajiki, I appreciate the concern but I think I'll be alright. We're both in the semifinals for a reason after all." She knew not to take offense, it was just how Amajiki was.

     "Right..."

Hado knew he wasn't convinced, turning to face him with a stern expression. "Look Amajiki, you seriously don't have to worry about injuring me. You're not gonna kill me or anything, we all go into this knowing we could come out of it with some scrapes and bruises. I'd honestly be more angry with you if I knew you were holding back on me than if you broke my arm or something. Out there we're competitors, all right? We both want to win so you better not hold back, because I won't."

Amajiki took a deep breath and sighed, facing her with a pensive, yet determined face. "O-okay."

"Come on, let's put on a good show, yeah?" Hado raised a fist towards him with a bright smile.

"Yeah..." He bumped her fist with his own as they came to a split in the hallway. "I'll b-be going this way."

"Right, see you out there!" She responded with another wide smile. "Plus Ultra, Amajiki!" He nodded sheepishly, turning away and continuing down the hallway. Hado did the same, finding herself more and more excited to see him out there. A short walk later and she was face to face with him again in the arena, a neutral expression in place of her smile. She's sparred with Amajiki before, but the stakes this time around had fully sunk in for her. She looked over at her class' seats for a moment before turning to Midnight, who was fiddling with something on her phone before putting it away.

Present Mic's voice boomed through the stadium, visibly startling Amajiki. "Let's not wait any longer, yeah?! Not that anyone needs introductions this late into the tournament, but for posterity's sake; On the left we have Class 1-A's Amajiki Tamaki, and on the right we have Class 1-A's Hado Nejire! With that said, let's get ready to rumble in 3... 2... 1... GO!!!"

A bit abrupt of Present Mic, Hado thought, but not that she had the time to complain. She immediately fired a massive spiral in Amajiki's direction, covering a good three-quarters of the stage. Amajiki barely flew over it, having sprouted large wings like before. Octopus tentacles exploded from his outstretched hands, Hado barely warding them off with another blast from her free hand. They continued to lash at her relentlessly, a couple strikes finding their marks on her back and forearms. A concentrated blast pierced some of the tentacles, slamming into Amajiki's chest and stunning him for a moment. Hado took the opportunity to charge her quirk around her waist, getting ready to fly like she had earlier. Amajiki had an advantage for as long as he was in the air and she wasn't, something she wanted to curb as soon as possible.
