It worked.
Kai fell to his knees, his body betraying him as it was sapped of all energy. He started heaving, trying to make up for the breaths he missed while creating that thunderbolt.
Barely managing to lift his head, Kai watched the Yeti finally break free of the red Demon's grasp, lifting its thick hands to its face and clutching at the golden bolt sticking out of its eye.
Inwardly, Kai was disappointed that his attack hadn't managed to kill the beast. It had taken so much out of him, and it's power was uncomparable to any attack he had unleashed before, the only exception being an Equilibrium.
But it had done damage. The Yeti's right eye was utterly destroyed, its blood gushing down its face as it pulled out the bolt, which was already beginning to fade away after having fulfilled its use.
Taking advantage of its pain, Petunia's mother crouched down and began clawing at the Yeti's ankle, her claws managing to dig in and tear out pieces of its flesh.
But while she done that, Kai had a look at the damage he had done.
-20 Luck
Kai winced. It was more than he wanted to put into the attack, but he was lucky he severed the connection as early as he did, otherwise all of his Luck might have been sapped.
However, that wasn't the only notification he received after unleashing that attack. There was another one, this one much more pleasant to look at than the loss of stats.
Minor Precision (Common)
Your ranged attacks have a 1/10,000 chance of dealing 100% extra damage. Your accuracy is passively increased by 2%
This skill was ever so graciously bestowed on you by your benevolent Master.
Kai let out a pained snort. So that was why the bolt of Luck had managed to somehow hit the beast's eye.
It was another Luck based factor.
At least his Master was doing something useful this time. After leaving him high and dry for so long it was about time he done something other than give him a little XP.
Gritting his teeth, Kai pushed himself back to his feet and stared up at the Yeti. It was heavily injured and being mauled by the Demon of Wrath.
... So why did Kai feel uneasy?
The next moment, the Yeti roared out and Petunia's mother was sent flying backwards by a shockwave, her massive body rolling across the ground.
It was then Kai remembered one crucial rule that all of the difficult fights he had fought in had.
The power-up that happened in the second phase.
The Yeti's body was engulfed by two bright lights, one red and one blue. Its muscles swelled as it hunched its back even more, lowering its centre of gravity and increasing its power.
Its one remaining eye began to change as well. The deep darkness that was inside it began to shift, two subtle colours slowly invading it before a multi-coloured pupil settled inside it.
One half of the pupil was a dark and menacing blue, one that reminded Kai of freezing cold ice.
But the other half of its pupil was a bright and domineering red, one that reminded Kai of...
"Fire..."
The next moment, the outer half of the arena was engulfed in raging flames, the heat already burning Kai's back despite being so far away from them.
