"William Joyce has stated that Jack Frost was stuck at the age of 14, but is able to change his physical age (up to a point) or become younger at will." - Rise of the Guardians wiki

That scene in the movie when Sandy dies and Jack is crying in the window, but if they let Jack use his age powers.

Jack hides to go cry because Sandy was like a big brother to him. North comes in only to find a six-year-old child crying in the window, hood drawn up, wanting to be comforted like a small child.

-----------------

North looks around at those gathered around wanting to mourn their fellow guardian, a wave of sad camaraderie washes over him as his eyes fall over Toothiana, Bunnymund, all the Yetis and elves... But no Jack.

Jack may not be new to the whole immortal thing but North is sure he's not used to being in a team and definitely not used to losing someone like this.

North excuses him and goes looking for the young lad. He looks through the quiet of his workshop, open doors, and scans each room.

He opens the door to an empty room, and to his surprise, he finds... A child? Small, fraggle, dressed in a too-large blue hoodie... "Jack..." North whispers under his breath.

The boy doesn't respond, obviously not hearing the large Russian enter. He wipes his eyes aggressively, adjusts his hood, his knees to his chest and touches the window, creating intricate ice drawings, one of Sandman but nothing seems to cheer him up.

North moves closer trying not to spook the child, not knowing if Jack's emotional maturity matches his physical form right now. "Are you all right?" He says softly standing off to the side.

Jack's eyes glisten as he turns slightly towards North, but does not look up at him. His little nose is bright red, the colour spreading to his round cheeks. "I just, uh- I wish I could've done something." His voice comes out squeaky, wavering with sadness and anger.

"Done something?!" North says quickly in surprise. He sits down on the windowsill next to the small child, who seems even smaller, curled into a ball. "Jack, you stood up to Pitch. You saved us."

Jack refuses to meet North's eyes. "But Sandy-" He whines softly.

"Would be proud of what you did."

Jack takes his hood down looking up at North as he tries to stand, hopping off the ledge with a small pat of his feet. He tries to put his hands in his pockets and frowns, now realising his hoodie is too big, or he is too small. He grumbles and starts to walk away.

"I don't know who you were in your past life, but in this life you are Guardian." North says, leaning down and putting his hand on Jack's shoulder comfortingly.

"How can I know who I am, until I find out who I was?" He asks softly, eyes wide as if he's pleading for help.

"You will. I feel it-" North pats his round gut. "in my belly."

Jack chuckles softly, unknowingly growing slightly. "I miss him so much already." He admits. "He was always so nice to me, like a big brother."

North nods. "I know, we all do. We could help each other, all of us. You shouldn't be alone right now. Especially with-"

"My shrinkage?" Jack asks as he studies his hands, the sleeves threatening to flop over his small fists. He had seen himself age and de-age before, but he had never felt this small. "How old do I look?"

North smiles softly. "You seem to be ageing before my eyes but you looked as small as six when I came in." North pulls him in for a hug. "Talking about all of this seems to help, yes?"

Jack nods, his arms barely able to wrap around North's waist, his head pressed to the swordman's belly. After a few moments, the hug becomes easier as Jack calms down, now almost at his regular height. "Thanks, North." He says, his voice much deeper now.

North pulls back and smiles. "Of course, Kiddo. Now, shall we see how the others are?"

Jack takes a deep breath, feeling a lot better. He stretches his arms, his hoodie fitting good enough and nods.

North and Jack start to slowly walk back to the main area where Jack sees the globe and its lights going out.

Tooth greets them sadly. "Look how fast they're going out!"

Jack rushes towards the globe, his own sadness momentarily forgotten, his protectiveness and worry for the child of the world taking over. "It's fear." He frowns as the lights rapidly go out. "He's tipped the balance."

"Hey, buck up ya sad sacks!" Bunny hops onto the console trying to lighten the mood. "We can still turn this around! Easter is tomorrow, and I need your help! I say we pull out all the stops and we get those little lights flickering again!"

---------------------

I've had this idea for a while but only just decided to put it into words. I don't even know if that wiki thing about Jack aging is correct because I'm only on the second book but I just wanted to do it. Like if he needed to protect someone, he ages to a young adult, and when he's sad or scared, he shrinks to a small child.
