The Day Ninjago Stood Still

Since facing the giant Stone Warrior yesterday, we've been training relentlessly. The Stone Warrior's presence and the knowledge of the Dark Island, not to mention the Overlord, has made everything much more real. Thankfully, Sensei had access to Mystakes' Remetea, which has managed to remedy nearly all of our injuries.

Meanwhile, Misako has been slowly bringing all her research on the Green Ninja and the prophecy to the Bounty. Going through the small mountain of scrolls and her personal notes has been somewhat tedious. Most scrolls have either nothing relevant or helpful and other scrolls are so old and faded it's nearly impossible to read them.

With this taking up so much space, we decided to train Lloyd in Dareth's dojo instead of on the Bounty. We all like that it gives Lloyd a chance to step away, as literal as it may be. Even if it's in the smallest possible way it's still helpful, plus it's always nice to visit the city.

Nya has just stopped the Bounty directly above Dareth's dojo, dropping the anchor to the street below. The seven of us head over to the railing, the whole time Cole and Kai are teasing Jay about his sleep-talking from the night before. Which normally wouldn't be so bad, but we were all exhausted from yesterday. It's honestly amazing that Jay had enough energy to not sleep like the dead.

"Give it a rest," Jay complains, "And for the record: I do not talk in my sleep."

"That's right, you only kiss pillows," Cole sasses back. Jay flushes bright pink at that comment and struggles to think of a response.

"C'mon guys," I laugh turning to Cole, "Is that anyway to treat your best friend?"

"Actually, Jay's being annoying," the Black Ninja remarks, playfully shoving the boy in blue, "So, he's being replaced by Nya." Jay lets out an offended gasp at his demotion of best friend as Nya high fives the Black Ninja.

"Yeah, well, I- I" Jay struggles, eyes bouncing between us remaining four ninjas, "Well, Lloyd's now my new best friend." He concludes, crossing his arms matter-of-factly.

"Aw man," Lloyd just sighs somewhat overdramatically. We all burst into laughter at his response, Jay's ego deflating noticeably at the sudden answer.

Just as the laughter is starting to die down, a piercing throb shoots through my skull.

"Drill, baby, drill!" The distinct voice of Skales echos in my head.

"It's ancient. Perhaps older than the Serpentine themselves." Another snake's voice follows.

I'm pulled back to reality almost as quickly as I left, the other's eyes staring into me, having noticed I suddenly stopped. They all wait for me to say something, to let them know just how serious my vision is.

"You guys go ahead," I tell them, nodding my head to the anchor, "I'll join in a bit." I'll have to meditate and see what this could be warming me about. If it has anything with the Serpentine it can't be too good.

Understanding exactly what I mean, they grab onto the chain and slide down to the street one by one. All but Nya, who heads back to the bridge while I head below deck and towards the training room.

The training room is one of the few places on the Bounty that's always kept in the most pristine conditions so we can train. Unlike our messy bedrooms or the now scroll filled Bridge.

Sitting down on one of the mats in the corner, I focus on the voices from before. Skales and the Serpentine have been quite recently. With no Garmadon or Pythor to order them around they are left to their own devices. And if that leaves them with Skales then it can't be good.
