The dreams were frequent now. Some were simple and harmless with a character Y/n had read about, or whatever her brain had randomly conjured up.

Everything was normal as dreams tend to be. Until, it eventually wasn't. It began subtle, the people in her dreams would stare at her too intently, a smile that didn't quite reach their eyes. And everything would go quiet. So, deathly quiet.

Like she was expecting something to happen.

And then the dreams would slowly take a dark turn. Right now, Y/n had dreamt of a quaint tea party with a crow. "Would you like to have tea with me?" Asked the crow, "Nobody wants to sit with me." And as intimidating as crows were, Y/n wasn't one to judge. So she sat with the crow.

But what was that?

She stared at something in her tea cup. Something that made her blood run cold. There was no tea in the tiny cup in her hands.

It was a severed finger.

"What's wrong?" Asked the crow. "Is the tea not to your liking?"

Y/n couldn't speak. She was stunned. What she was seeing couldn't be real. "I expect nothing less from a stupid Mundy." The voice changed this time, more feminine with an edge of condensation.

She stammered, still not looking up. "W-what?"

"Do you really think you're safe?" The trees around them seemed to rustle violently with each passing moment.

Y/n's heartbeat quickened. The panic rising as the realization hit. She was alone in the forest and Bigby nowhere in sight. It wasn't until she heard hissing behind her accompanied with something guttural and deep. The crow was gone, leaving her alone with the unseen monster behind her.

The tears threaten to spill. She didn't dare turn around to face whatever creature was behind her. "The Big Bad Wolf isn't here to save you now."

Y/n.

"A Mundy living among the characters she reads. How precious."

Y/n!

"You want to be part of our world? Then, turn around." The sky had darkened and she felt the temperature drop drastically.

"TURN AROUND!" The woman shrieked. "No! Leave me alone!" She covered her ears and closed her eyes shut. "You're not real, go away!"

"Oh?" Mockery dripped from the voice that seemed to be all around her.

"Very soon, you'll see how fucking real I can be."

Y/n, wake up!

She jolted awake, panting as her widened eyes dart around the room frantically. Bigby was looming over, his look carried one of concern. He reached up and wipe away the tears spilling over her cheeks.

"You're alright," he said quietly. "You were having a nightmare."

Her eyes continue to scan the room. There was no quaint table with tea cups. There was no crow. And the woman's voice wasn't present.

She finally looked up at Bigby. "It's not real, okay? Bad dreams can't hurt you."

She clutched her blanket that pooled around her waist, willing herself to calm down.
