"Hey Master-nii, you think Gray and Gajeel are doing alright? It's been a month and we still haven't heard anything from either of them."
Like Romeo said it had been a month since their friends had returned from their slumber on Tenrou island, in that time the news spread like wildfire. Many people came to the guild to see them only to be disappointed that they weren't there.
Natsu, Kinana, and Kairoi had returned to the guild a few days ago, leaving the trainees with Kagura, Millianna, and Happy. Natsu didn't ask to be informed on how they were doing.
On the other hand he hasn't heard anything about Gray and Gajeel since he announced they would participate in the games. He did ask Ultear to unlock their second origin, but she hadn't got back to him.
"I'm sure the two are fine."
"But what about their training?" Natsu still didn't seem worried in the slightest.
"They'll be alright, after what happened on Tenrou and with Happy, I'm sure they're training harder than ever."

Volcanos, lava, heat.
That's what Gray saw and what he felt. He was trucking through molten terrain with no shirt or shoes on. His steps froze the ground and his ice melted in the next instance.
"Damn it's hot!"
"Damn it's hot!"
Gray paused and looked to his side and came face to face with Gajeel and PantherLily. The dragon slayer was shirtless and sweating heavily while the Exceed was resting on Gajeel's shoulder.
"What the hell are you doing here!"
"I'm training, the hell are you doing here ya ice cube?!"
"I'm training metal face, why the hell did you come out here?"
"So the salamander can't melt my metal, I'm guessing you're thinking the same." Gray kissed his teeth in frustration because that was what he was thinking.
"Just stay out of my way, bolts for brains."
"As long as you do the same ya popsicle."
Over the course the next week they trained in close proximity but never together. Gajeel dipped his metal arms in lava pools to strengthen his metal and after he would spar with PantherLily.
Gray on the other hand froze a large area and when it melted he froze it again. He did this constantly until he ran out of mana and had to leave the magma scape.
This was their routine for the first week but at the start of the second Gajeel grew bored. As Gary was training a metal beam flew too close to his face.
"What the hell metal brain?!" Gajeel looked at him with a smirk.
"What scared of a little metal ice cube?"
Gray grit his teeth and magic gathered in his hands.
"Ice make: Lance."
A chill wind passed as a lance of ice flew towards Gajeel. The iron dragon slayer hardened his arm and swatted the ice out of the air.
"That's all you got?"
"I'm just getting started."
Ice covered Gary's fist in the form of an armored gauntlet and he rushed Gajeel, in response the dragon slayer hardened his fist in steel scales.
"Ice Make: Glove!"
"Iron Dragon's Hard Fist!"
When they clashed cold winds swirled around them and Gray's ice was covering Gajeel's fist.
