Excerpt:
This is crazy, why do we have to have these damn parties? Even as I think it I know why. Dad was the were-dog king. He was head of the coalition for better understanding in the were community. As one of his sons I was expected to schmooze at the parties he started throwing in order to get the shifter races to get along. I'd rather be left out of this. I wasn't worried about it. I was worried about my sister who since mating had found her new mate was going to be dads successor. After my sisters attack she'd been nearly a shut in, in some ways. Then she'd met Elias, he'd changed it all for her but I still noticed that she got nervous around big males. If Elias was with her she did just fine. I was pretty impressed the guy had been just a human then when some trouble had them in a car wreck and he'd nearly died so she turned him. Now he was a pretty huge black alpha dog. I sighed as I saw him sweep her away from some more men who wanted to flirt with her and toward some safe married women.
I was rolling my eyes at him and that jealous streak, something he didn't have before he was turned according to her, when I notice a couple she-wolves off to one side. They are flirting heavily with a guy who's actually looking a little harassed. As I watch one of the girl runs a hand up his arm and flips her hair. I watch as he stammers out something and practically runs in the direction of the pond. I can't help but be a little concerned about the guy. Heading after him I shake my head at myself. My father was rubbing off on me if I was worried about someone not family. I found the guy hands shoved in his pockets on the other side of the hedge. I had to admit he was really cute. A little beefier than I normally went for in my guys but... well... he was cute.
