Days seem to come and go in a blur anymore.

Nothing really captures my attention.

I wake up.

I avoid looking in the mirror.

I attempt to eat.

Usually fail.

Classes  go by.

I pass.

Barely.

There is not a day go by that I'm not reminded of Stevie.

She honestly changed my whole life.

Every aspect has changed because of her.

And it's hard.

So so hard.

I sat in American History class.

Listening to the teacher go on and on about World War II.

For the first time all semester I look around the room.

And take stock of the people in there.

There were the smart kids in the front of the room,

All of them hurriedly copying every word the teacher says,\

In fear it might by on the test and they might miss it.

In the back sit the kids who don't really care.

Some of which are fast asleep on the desk.

And then there's me in the middle.

Half-paying attention,

and half not.

Next to me sits this blonde girl.

Her hair is long, and somewhat wavy--

but at the same time somewhat straight.

She appears to be taking notes,

However, a deeper look,

Shows she's actually doodling her notebook.

I can see from  a doodle in the upper left hand corner,

That her name is Lacey.

"Now," I hear the teacher say, "Who can tell me what they know about Hitler?"

Obviously some kids speak up,

Talk about how he murdered 11 million Jews,

In attempt to create the perfect Aryan race.

I was almost zoned out again until Lacey started to speak up,

"He wanted to be a painter,"

She said, matter-of-factly.

"In fact, Hitler was so passionate about painting and art in general it was insane.  He tried to put himself into art school but got kicked out, leaving him homeless in the streets of Austria.  So instead, he painted people's houses and bathrooms."

The kids started to snicker at her,

Thinking she's obviously full of shit.

Until the teacher,

With his red hair and dark green eyes,

Started to grin a little.

"Exactly," he says,

"Everyone sees Hitler as this evil man--

Which there is no doubt that he is,

But what most don't realize is how passionate he was.
