The dim glow of the bedside lamp cast soft shadows over their tangled limbs as they lay under the warm weight of the blanket. The lingering heat between them had settled into something more intimate—gentle touches, quiet breaths, and the steady rhythm of their hearts aligning.
Taehyung’s fingers idly traced patterns along Jungkook’s bare shoulder, his mind replaying something he had learned earlier.
“You really gave Sohee money?”
Taehyung suddenly asked, his voice breaking the comfortable silence. His tone held both surprise and curiosity, his chest rising and falling against Jungkook’s.
Jungkook, tucked against him, only nodded. He didn’t say anything at first, his gaze fixed somewhere past Taehyung’s shoulder.
Taehyung pulled back slightly, just enough to study Jungkook’s expression in the dim light. His brows furrowed.
“I’m surprised. I didn't think you would involve yourself with them,” he mused, his fingers absentmindedly brushing through Jungkook’s tousled hair. “What changed your mind?”
Jungkook remained quiet. His lips parted as if to speak, but no words came.
Taehyung watched as he hesitated, eyes darting away before finally mumbling something under his breath.
“What?” Taehyung leaned in, brows knitting together.
Jungkook swallowed and shifted uncomfortably. His ears, already tinged pink from their previous activities, turned a deep shade of red.
He exhaled, then, barely above a whisper, admitted, “…You.”
Taehyung blinked. “Me?”
Jungkook cleared his throat, fingers tightening slightly around the blanket.
“I thought… you’d be happy if I help them. That you’d… praise me.” His voice was quiet, almost shy. His eyes flickered to Taehyung’s face for only a second before he looked away again.
For a moment, there was silence.
Then, a soft chuckle. Taehyung’s lips curled in amusement, his heart swelling with affection.
He cupped Jungkook’s face between his warm palms, gently guiding him to meet his gaze. “You really are something else, Jungkook.” he whispered, his voice laced with fondness.
Jungkook grumbled, clearly embarrassed, but Taehyung only grinned before leaning in and pressing a soft, lingering kiss to his lips.
His thumbs caressed Jungkook’s flushed cheeks as he whispered against his mouth,
“I am happy.” He kissed him again, deeper this time. “Even if I don’t like those people. They hurt you, and I don’t forgive them for that.”
His voice softened as he continued, “But I’m glad their presence doesn’t bother you anymore" Another kiss, this time at the corner of Jungkook’s lips. “And that you can interact with them without feeling trapped, without it weighing you down.”
Jungkook’s hands slid over Taehyung’s waist, pulling him closer, as if seeking reassurance.
Taehyung rested their foreheads together, his voice softer now.
“I don’t want Sohee, or anyone from your family, to have any kind of power over you, okay?” His fingers ran through Jungkook’s hair, soothing.
Jungkook nodded, his hold tightening slightly. “I won’t do anything for them anymore,” he murmured against Taehyung’s skin. “It was my farewell gift.”
