"That's what I was getting to, Caden." Carl looked at him. I looked down at Caden's swollen knuckles. "But you're a guy. Guys can't hit girls." Caden laughed. "Violence has no gender roles." He said proudly. I looked back at Carl. "So yeah, that's what happened." He spoke. Caden looked at me and then Carl quickly. "Okay, I'll let you guys talk.." He said backing out of the room and closing the door.

I looked back at Carl, I could tell he was furious. "Why didn't you believe me, Mel?" I gulped, I could hear the anger in his voice. "I don't know, Carl." I said, looking down. "Look at me." He snapped. I shot my eyes back up to meet his. "Tell me why you didn't fucking believe me." He yelled, standing up. "Carl, I honestly don't know. It's just that I've been fucked ov-" "Fucked over so many times? Yeah, join the club." He shot back. My heart sank. "We've all been there, Mel. We've all been fucked over and had our hearts broken. But that doesn't mean you can bring it up anytime you want for pity." He folded his arms. "Carl, Let me explain!" I screamed, standing up. He puffed his chest. "Go." He nodded. "A few years back, I was in this relationship. And he claimed he loved me and-" "you've told me this all before." I got angry. "WOULD YOU SHUT UP AND LISTEN TO ME, CARL?" I yelled. I'd never yelled at him before, so he was taken back a bit. I could tell by the look on his face.

"I've been broken and cheated so many times, and I thought you cheated on me! What the fuck else was I supposed to think?" I started crying harder. "The last guy I was with broke me, Carl." I took a deep breath. "And I want to believe that you aren't like him, but it was hard when I thought you were cheating on me with a girl you claimed you hated a week ago." Carl nodded. "Now, I see where you're coming from." He took a deep breath. I wiped my eyes. My head was spinning and I could barely see anything. "Mel?" I heard him say. I closed my eyes. "Yeah?" I said, trying to come to my senses. "Do you believe me?" He stood next to me. I nodded. "Yes. Yes, Carl I believe you." I feel his arms around me, I hugged him back and felt him sob. "Carl, why are you crying?" I asked, sniffing a little. He nuzzled his head in the crook of my neck. "Because I almost lost you." He said. His hands found mine and grabbed them. He picked his head up. He smiled and chuckled a bit. "What?" I asked him. "I'm such a pussy." He laughed. I couldn't help but smile. I could never stay mad at him. I know he wouldn't hurt me intentionally.

I wiped his tears away with my thumb. He pulled me into his arms again. The feeling of him close to me made me feel so safe. I couldn't even begin to think about how lucky I am to have him. I felt bad for screaming at him, but I didn't know any better. I thought he was cheating on me, like every guy has ever done. I guess you could say I've never know what true love is. Carl will never hurt me. This was only a misunderstanding. In the two weeks i've known him, i've been happier than ever. He takes my sadness and washes it away. And I can never repay him for doing so. He's the only person who could ever do that. I don't want to tell him, because what if it freaks him out? I don't want to almost lose him again. And I'm pretty sure he doesn't want to lose me, either. I'm overjoyed that he actually loves me. And I'm relived to know that he's all mine.

After minutes of just embracing eachother, he pulled back from our hug. He smiled down at me. "Are we okay now?" He asked, raising his eyebrows. I smiled and nodded. "Of course." I looked down at the floor. I felt his fingers pull my head up. He kissed me quickly as someone walked in. I looked over to meet Lip's gaze. "Nevermind." He said, walking out. I smiled and shook my head. I gave Carl's hand a squeeze as we walked into the hallway.

We got downstairs and some of the family was downstairs. I awkwardly greeted them as Carl sat down. Considering family was there,I just stood there awkwardly until Carl patted his lap. I giggled. Dirty little boy. I sat on his lap. It was silent. "You guys did good." Fiona said. I nodded. "Thank you, Fiona." I smiled at her. "Thanks, Fiona." Carl thanked his big sister. "Are you still going to stay?" Debbie asked me. I nodded. "Of course, Debs. I can't miss another movie night!" I smiled. She nodded. "Okay!" She looked at Ashley. "Do you want to stay, too?" Without hesitation Ashley agreed. She acted as if she'd never been to a sleepover before. "Okay." Debbie laughed. Ian stood up. "Well, I'm going to Mickey's." He grabbed his jacket. "Right now?" Fiona asked, picking at her fingers."Uh huh." He spoke before leaving the house. I wonder what that was about. I looked around. It was Lip, Ashley, Debbie, Fiona, Carl, and I. I sat there, not filling the silence.

"Oh shit. I forgot something at my house. I'll be right back." I said out of nowhere. I got up and walked to the door. "Don't take too long." Carl said, winking. I smiled. I got outside. It was colder than I thought. I really shouldn't be wearing a skirt and a small shirt. I quickly walked across the street to my house and walked in. Thank God my mom never bothered to lock the door, like she's barely home anyways. I got upstairs and saw that she was home for once. She was passed out on her bed. I reached my room. I grabbed some sweatpants, a baggy tshirt, and a few movies. I grabbed a bag and stuffed everything in it when I heard a knock on the door. I rolled my eyes, just knowing that it'd be Carl. I grabbed my bag and ran downstairs. "Carl, I'm not even taking that long!" I laughed as I swung open the door. It wasn't Carl. The boy at my door looked up. "Vince?" "Hi, Mel."

Oh great, I totally needed this. I just got over a fight with my boyfriend. And now my ex is at my door.
