Friday came faster than I expected.  After school, I went to practice then came home.  Usually, I go to parties with Liv and we get ready together, but since she has that boot on her leg, going to a party would be hard.

We'd always watch out for eachother.  One would be the designated driver while the other one drank as much as we would have wanted.  I have never gotten drunk and I don't plan to, but I know that tonight I was going to let loose a little to try to get my mind off of him.

I looked at my bedside clock that read 6:19 and decided that it was time to start getting ready.  I grabbed a towel and went into the bathroom; bringing my phone with me to play music.  After I closed the door and got undressed I stared at my phone.  It was killing me.  I partly knew Luke was the unknown number, but I still wasn't sure.  All I knew was I needed to find out.

I took a deep breath and picked up my phone.

To: Unknown Number

Who is this?

My breath was uneasy as I waited for a response.

Not even three minutes later, my phone vibrated.

From:Unknown Number

Rayne, it's Luke

I felt as if I got the wind knocked out of me.  I knew I shouldn't have texted it back.  Just as I was trying to get rid of every memory of him.

My phone vibrated again.

From: Unknown Number

Do you remember me?

I sighed and decided to respond.

To: Unknown Number

Yes.

I took a deep breath trying to restrain my anger and possibly tears, but suddenly my phone rang.

It was Luke.

Why the hell is he calling?

I'm not answering.

The phone rang once again.

No I told myself.  I am not answering.

It rang out again.

No.  I would not, but then something came over me and I couldn't contain myself.

"He-Hello."  I stammered into the phone trying to sound as strong as possible.

"Rayne," Luke breathed out into the phone causing chills to travel down my body.  His familiar voice sent me over the edge in a happy and sad way.

"I thought you were arrested."  I said plainly.

He chuckled into the phone causing me to get butterflies in my stomach, "I did, but was bailed out."

"Oh."  My voice was shaking even though I was trying to talk steady.

"Babe, I haven't stopped thinking about you.  I'm coming over tonight.  I need to see you."  His voice was deep and I could tell that he was biting his lip ring.  That used to drive me crazy.

"No, Luke."

"What?"  He said in disbelief.  "Rayne, I need to see you."

"I don't need to see you."  I said firmly.

"I need you back.  You don't understand.  I-I need you again."  His voice was pleading causing me to feel weak but I closed my eyes for a second and regained my strength.

"No, Luke.  I am done.  You were terrible to me and I want to move on.  I won't be home tonight anyways.  I'm going to a party."

"What? I wasn't terrible to you!" He said; his voice rising, "Listen, I need to see you."  His voice softening for a second then rising once again louder and harsher than before, "Why the fuck are you going to a party?"

"I can do what I want and I don't want to see you."

"I- I need to talk to you," He said as his voice cracked making me feel weak, "Please."

"No."  I said firmly looking up at the mirror and noticing tears had began to fall silently down my face.

The phone was dead silent for a few seconds.

"Baby, I need to talk to you.  You don't underst,"  I didn't let him finish his sentence.

"Goodbye Luke,"  I whispered into the phone and hanging up; just in time for tears to fall uncontrollably.
