Cara stared at the fire in front of her, softly singing along to Ha Ha You're Dead by Green Day. She'd woken up early and couldn't go back to sleep for some reason.
Cara pulled out her phone to see if she's gotten any texts from anyone back home. Sigh, not one single bothered to text her. Weren't they wondering why she disappeared?
They never liked you.
Cara snapped up her head to see where the voice was coming from. She saw one, she was all alone in the common room.
They don't miss you.
The clock read read 6:57, and hour until breakfast and then classes. The lack of sleep may be causing Cara to hear voices. Either way she didn't like it.
They're better off without you.
Now she was getting worried. It was as if the walls were whispering about her, making her go crazy.
They won't notice.
Come with me.
I'll help you only if you help me.
Help me r-
"Cara!" someone frantically yelled. Cara snapped back to reality and noticed Luke by the staircase looking at her worriedly. That's when she noticed a burning sensation in the palm of her hand, she looked back at the fireplace and saw that her palm was above the fire.
The flames would ever so slightly touch her palm, burning off a bit of skin.
Luke rushed towards her and removed her hand from the fire.
"Old habits die hard, huh?" Luke examined her rigt hand, seeing the severeness of the burn.
Cara could now feel the pain coming from her palm, causing her to let a tear roll down her cheek. Luke noticed.
"Hey, it'll be ok. I don't think it's even that bad, maybe a first or second degree burn," Luke tried his best to stop Cara from crying. "Now why don't you tell me what caused you to harm yourself?"
"I don't know. There were these voices whispering angrily at me saying that they won't miss me," Cara barely finished her sentence before she started panicking.
"Hey, it's ok. It's alright. What ever these voices were telling you, they're wrong. We all love you so much and would do anything for you," Luke hugged the small fragile girl. "Why don't we go to the hospital wing so thy can wrap up your hand and I'll send Michael over so you two can talk, sounds good?"
Cara nodded and stood up and headed towards the portrait, Luke trailing behind.

Once they arrived, Madame Pomfrey made Cara run her hand through cool water to help relieve some of the pain she was feeling.
The pain subsided and Madame Pomfrey examined her hand.
"Hmm, you've got yourself a second degree burn here. It's not completely bad," Madame Pomfrey took out some non-adhesive bandage and wrapped it around Cara's hand.
"Cara! Are you alright? Luke told me what happened and I came her as fast as I could," Michael barged in, slightly panting. Funny, she didn't notice Luke leave.
"I'm alright, I guess."
"Now, if you're feeling any pain on your hand, I want you to come to me. Understood?" Cara nodded. "Make sure she doesn't apply any sort of pressure onto her hand and bring her to me when you notice that she's in pain. Second degree burns are not that severe but dangerous if not treated well."
