Takemichi POV
By the time we arrived, everyone was dead silent, still recovering from the absolute flex that was our ride.
Well, they thought that was the flex—until we stopped in front of our house.
"Bro... you brought us to the wrong place," Baji said, staring up at the massive iron gates that slowly opened before us.
“No, this is it,” Yaz said, stepping out of the car like it was just another Tuesday.
Mikey practically had to peel his face off the window to take in the view. Behind those towering gates stood a three-story modern mansion, complete with a garden bigger than a football field, a grand fountain, and actual security guards standing by the entrance.
"What the actual f*ck," Chifuyu muttered, voice barely above a whisper.
Draken crossed his arms, his expression unreadable. “Takemichi. I need you to explain. Right. Now.”
I rubbed the back of my neck, suddenly feeling very, very small.
“Well… uh… surprise?”
“SURPRISE?!” Mikey whipped around so fast I thought his neck would snap. “Takemitchy, WHAT DO YOU MEAN ‘SURPRISE’?! THIS IS A DAMN PALACE!!!”
Yaz laughed, tossing her bag over her shoulder. "You're acting like Taki doesn't come from an old, moneyed family. Our relatives here have always been rich."
Chifuyu pointed accusingly. "And you never thought to mention that?!"
"To be fair," I mumbled, "it's not like I live here every day..."
"Oh yeah? But you do own it?" Draken asked, narrowing his eyes.
"Technically, it's under my dad's name..."
Baji was already halfway up the driveway. “I don’t care whose name is on the papers. I’m sleeping in a mansion tonight, baby!”
Stepping inside, my friends collectively lost their sh*t.
The living room had a high ceiling with a glass chandelier, velvet sofas, and a floor-to-ceiling bookshelf filled with expensive-looking books (that no one actually reads).
The kitchen was fully equipped with a personal chef, who greeted us politely before returning to chopping what looked like freshly imported wagyu beef.
The backyard had a fountain, a koi pond, and a damn infinity pool overlooking a golf course.
Mikey flopped onto the couch dramatically. “Takemitchy… why the hell were you struggling with rent back in Japan when you have this?”
Yaz, sipping a fresh mango shake that appeared out of nowhere, smirked. “Because we were raised to be independent.”
Baji, lying face-first on the marble floor, groaned. “I was not mentally prepared for this level of flex.”
Chifuyu walked into the hallway and immediately froze. “...Dude, is that a wine cellar?”
Mikey’s eyes practically sparkled. “Takamitchy, we need to test that out.”
“No, we don’t,” I said firmly.
“WE ABSOLUTELY DO.”
I was losing control fast.
Draken, ever the responsible one, massaged his temples. “Alright, enough. We’ve established that Takemichi has been hiding generational wealth from us. Now what?”
Yaz grinned. “Now? We enjoy our damn vacation.”
And with that, everyone scattered—Baji and Chifuyu went to explore the mansion, Mikey made a beeline for the pool, and Draken (after a long, suffering sigh) finally accepted his fate.
I exhaled, watching my best friends act like kids in Disneyland. Maybe this trip was a good idea after all.
To be continued…
