The moment I got the call from Baji, I knew something was wrong. He wouldn’t ask me to book a flight out of nowhere—not with that tone in his voice. Urgent. Tense. Like he was holding back from telling me the worst.

So I didn’t ask. I just did as he said.

The airport was crowded, but I barely noticed. My mind kept looping over the possibilities. Mikey, Draken, Takemichi—one of them was in trouble. I could feel it in my gut. And if Baji was reaching out to me, it meant they needed backup.

When my flight landed, I wasted no time heading to where they were staying. The air was thick with tension when I arrived.

Baji was pacing. Draken was talking to someone on the phone, his voice low but urgent. Mikey sat with his head in his hands, barely moving.

And Takemichi—

He wasn’t there.

I barely had time to drop my bag before Baji turned to me, eyes burning with frustration. “Kazutora, we need to move. Now.”

I didn’t ask questions. I didn’t need to.

Takemichi was missing. And from the looks of it, we weren’t the only ones looking for him.

I clenched my fists, forcing myself to breathe. We had dealt with enemies before. We had fought and survived. But something about this felt different—like we were already one step behind.

I caught Mikey’s eyes. He looked up, and for the first time in years, I saw something raw in his gaze. Fear.

I wasn’t going to let this happen.

Not again.

I stepped forward. “Tell me everything.”

Because no matter what, we were getting Takemichi back.

The news reached Takemichi’s grandfather like a heavy stone dropping into still water.

Yza stood before him, trembling, tears streaming down her face as she clutched his hands tightly.

“Please, Lolo… we need your help. We need to find him!” she sobbed, her voice cracking under the weight of desperation.

The old man’s face remained unreadable, but the slight tightening of his grip around Yza’s hands betrayed his emotions. He had always known danger would follow Takemichi—it was written in his blood, in his fate. But this…

This was different.

He turned away, his gaze falling onto the old photographs that lined the room. One in particular caught his eye—Takemichi as a child, smiling brightly, unaware of the burdens he would one day carry.

Taking a deep breath, he finally spoke, his voice steady. “We will find him.”

His contacts, his influence—they would all be set into motion. Because Takemichi was not just his grandson.

He was his heir. And no one would take him away without a fight.
