-When Will This Storm End?-
{Kadin POV}
We have been driving around for over an hour. Where we are going, I really have no idea.
We came to a red light and I suddenly remembered this diner that my mom used to take us to when we were kids. It was about 15 minutes away from where we were now.
As I sped through the light and made a sharp turn sending my bike almost parallel to the road, I felt Avery tighten her grip around my waist.
The last time I was on my bike with a girl, it didn’t end so well. Thinking back to that night a smile spread across my face, then I remembered what happened after that and the smile faded just as quickly as it had appeared.
As we pulled into a parking space, Avery got off the bike and handed me her helmet. She looked over at the diner and looked at me like I was crazy.
I just laughed and got off my bike. I walked over to the door and held it open for her.
“Just live a little Avery. Didn’t my brother ever bring you here?”
Walking through the door she slid closer to me and pulled me closer by placing her arm around my waist. “No.”
“Good, I finally have a first.” A huge smile stretched out on my face as I looked down at her, she looked to small and delicate. How could my brother ever do that to her?
I am going to kick his ass the next time I see him, which hopefully won’t be soon considering things might not go exactly how I am plotting in my head. I have too much rage built up against him right now.
“Earth to Kadin.” Avery was tugging at my shirt.
“Sorry, just thinking.”
“Hello, table of 2?” said an elderly woman that seemed to appear out of thin air.
“Yes please.” Avery spoke up.
Following Avery back to the booth, I let her choose her side and sat down on the opposite side.
“Your waiter will be right over.”
“Thank you.” I quickly responded before Avery had the chance to.
She walked away and I looked back to Avery.
“What were you thinking about?” she was playing with her hands and her eyes would flash back and forth between them and my eyes.
“When?”
“Back there, you said you were thinking. What were you thinking about?”
I looked straight into her eyes, “I was thinking about kicking my brother’s ass the next time I see him. He should never have treated you like that.”
I looked away, not being able to bear the look of pain in her eyes. I knew she was replaying the events of yesterday over in her head. I however, didn’t want to think about that.
Her hands finally stilled on the table as she stared at my face, meanwhile I was now looking at her hands. I can’t believe it, please tell me my eyes are playing tricks on me.
“What are you staring at?”
I gently, very gently picked up her forearm and held it in my hand, while I ran my other hand along her wrist.
“Oh my god.” Her voice was barely audible.
“Can, can I see your other arm please.” my words came out in a deep whisper.
Raising her other arm into my hand and laying it down, I wanted to scream.
She had bruises on both of her wrists. You could very clearly make out the shape of hands.
