Kiara Knight is an intelligent and a very beautiful woman, but nobody notices her because of her conservative and professional clothing, and she is always busy. She is always at the beck and call of her boss, doing whatever he asks her to do.
Then t...
The soft hum of Seoul’s early morning traffic reached me through the open balcony doors. The city was already alive, people moving with purpose, while I sat on the edge of the bed, trying to steady my nerves.
After the call with aunt Maggie yesterday, I just did some work, arranged some files and answered pending emails. I also texted Isabella, I didn't tell her about Brandon's confession, I wanted to tell her physically.
I snuck out of my room to get lunch, but Brandon was nowhere in sight, which was good for me because I was not ready to see him yet. I also didn't see him when I went to get dinner as well, so, I guessed he was working in his room. I went to bed after watching a movie.
Today, I woke up to see a text from Brandon, he wanted to take me out, and I had no idea what to expect.
After yesterday's conversation with him, my emotions were a tangled mess. His confession had left me both shaken and... curious. Brandon Williams, my boss, my arrogant, frustrating, sometimes impossibly kind boss, had feelings for me. And I was supposed to believe that?
But the conversation I had with my aunt helped me to make a decision, and I am going to do just that.
A knock at my door pulled me from my thoughts.
"Kiara, are you awake?" Brandon’s voice was softer than usual, I guess he didn't want to startle me awake in case I was asleep.
I took a breath before answering. "Yeah, I’m up."
"Good. Be ready in twenty minutes. Wear something comfortable."
I frowned, staring at the door as his footsteps retreated. Comfortable? Was he taking me hiking or something? Knowing him, that didn’t seem likely.
After a quick shower, I pulled on a pair of blue jeans, a white blouse, black cardigan, dark brown coat and sneakers, it's really cold in Korea. I kept my makeup light, my hair in a simple ponytail. When I stepped out of my room, Brandon was waiting by the elevator, dressed in a black turtle neck, black coat and black pant trousers. Casual, hmm ok.

His eyes flickered over me briefly before he nodded. "Let’s go."
We took the elevator down in silence, the air between us thick with unspoken words. When we stepped outside, the car was waiting for us. The driver opened the door for us, and I slid in, feeling oddly nervous.
"Where are we going?" I finally asked as the car pulled away from the hotel.
"You’ll see," he replied, a small smirk playing on his lips.
Typical Brandon.
We drove through the city, the towering skyscrapers slowly giving way to smaller buildings, street vendors setting up their stalls, and the scent of fresh food filling the air. The car finally stopped in front of a bustling market, and I turned to him, surprised.
"A market?"
He chuckled. "You sound so suspicious."
"I just... didn’t expect this."
"Exactly the point," he said, stepping out and holding the door open for me.
We walked through the narrow streets, stalls lined up on either side selling everything from handmade crafts to sizzling street food. The air was thick with the scent of grilled meat, fresh fruit, and something sweet that made my mouth water.
Brandon surprised me by stopping at one of the vendors, pointing to something on the menu. "호떡 두 개 주세요." (Two hotteok, please)
I watched as the vendor prepared the pancakes, stuffing them with brown sugar and nuts before frying them to a perfect golden crisp. He handed them over, and Brandon passed one to me.
"Try it," he urged.
I hesitated before taking a bite. The moment the warm, sweet filling hit my tongue, I let out an involuntary hum of approval.
Brandon smirked. "Good, right?"
"Okay, I admit, this is amazing."
We continued through the market, stopping occasionally when something caught my eye. He let me browse, never rushing me, occasionally reaching out to tuck a stray strand of hair behind my ear when the wind blew it loose. Each touch sent a ripple of warmth through me, making it harder to ignore the shift in our dynamic. He would also speak in Korean with some vendors about somethings, I still don't understand the language.
Eventually, we found ourselves at a quieter part of the market, near a small park with Camelia trees. Brandon led me to a bench, and we sat in comfortable silence.
"Why this place?" I finally asked.
He leaned back, gazing at the blossoms above us. "Because I wanted you to see a different side of me. Not your boss. Just... me, Brandon."
I turned to him, my heart doing an odd little flip. This was dangerous. But maybe, just maybe, it was worth the risk.
I looked away and cleared my throat awkwardly when I noticed we were looking at each other for quite a while.
I was about to say something to clear the awkwardness, but he beat me to it,
"I prepared a breakfast picnic, you only ate the hotteok, now it's time for a proper breakfast.
I saw our driver coming over with a basket, I guess with our breakfast. Mr Williams collected the basket and started bringing out the food. Kimbap, dumplings, rolled egg omelette, ice coffee and some fruits. We ate quietly, while enjoying the scenery of the park. Although, we didn't say much, it wasn't as awkward and tense like in the elevator. It was peaceful, I like it.
