I have been purposely flirting with Kiara since we got to Korea. She gets flustered most of the time and shy away, like this morning before we went to Lee Jung head office to sign the contract with Mr Lee.
So I decided to tone it down a bit, because she even got distracted during the meeting. But the growing tension between us, made me feel like she wasn't ready for this.
So, I was about to address it in the elevator on our way back to the penthouse, but when I turned to say something, I noticed she looked pale. I thought she was sick and I touched her forehead to check her temperature because I was worried, but she ran away once the elevator doors opened to the penthouse.
I am not going to lie and say I wasn't surprised, that was the first time a woman ran away from me. I watched her enter her room and heard the key lock the door.
"What the fuck just happened", I asked no one in particular since I the only one here. I walked out of the elevator into the living room and I sat on a chair close to her room, I will just wait for her to come out of her room, she would have probably calmed down, then I will talk it out with her.
I started thinking of every way to explain myself to her, I even searched online amd I not ashamed at all. I will do anything to show her my true feelings.
I was reading some stories online, when I heard a loud noise from Kiara's room. My body moved without thinking, I knocked hard on the door,
"Kiara open the door, is something wrong, why did you shout?“, I asked all at once.
No response from her, my heart started beating fast with negative thoughts invading my mind, so I went to get the spare key to her room and I pushed open the door hard. I looked frantically around the room and found her siting on her bed with her phone close to her ear, like she was on a call. I walked fast to where she was sitting and spoke in an angry voice;
"What the fuck Kiara", my voice boomed so loud in the four corners of the room, my heart was still beating so fast.
She flinched badly from the sudden break of silence, this caused my anger to slip out, as I stood in front of her breathing heavily. She dropped her phone on the bed and looked up at me with sad eyes that were turning red like she was about to cry.
I clenched my jaw and pinched the bridge of my nose and took a deep breath in an attempt to calm myself down completely. I knelt down in front of her and said,
"Why did you shout Kiara", I said in an overly calm voice, but she didn't say anything.
"I asked you something, please answer me" I said eerily slow about to lose my calm again.
She flinched again as tears rolled down her face, then she spoke,
"I am sorry sir" she said in a small voice.
I sighed, the anger I felt was already gone and it was replaced by guilt for making her cry.
"I didn't m-mean to sh-shout, I was talking to my best friend and she said s-something that made me shout, I-I am so sorry. I j-just felt overwhelmed with everything going on since we came to Korea and everything that happened this morning is making me feel confused. I am sorry" she whispered the last word softly.
I looked at her, my heart softening at the sight of her tears. She wasn’t just overwhelmed, she was scared, confused, maybe because of my sudden character change. I ran a hand through my hair, exhaling a long breath to keep myself steady.
“Kiara, stop apologizing,” I said, my tone gentler now. “I understand how you feel right now, you must be confused because of my change in character. I promise there is a reason and I plan to tell you, just not right now. I am sorry for making you feel overwhelmed.” I reached out tentatively, brushing a tear off her cheek with my thumb. Her breath hitched at the contact, and I pulled back, afraid of pushing her further into discomfort.
She wiped her face hurriedly with her hands, like she was embarrassed to be seen crying. “O-okay, sir. I’m—”
“Stop calling me sir,” I interrupted, cutting through her speech. “It’s just me, okay? Just me. Whatever you’re feeling, you can tell me, you remember Colorado right. I’m not your boss right now—I’m just someone who’s worried about you.”, I said with so much sincerity from my heart.
Her eyes widened at my words, and for a moment, she looked like she might actually believe me. But then, just as quickly, she shifted her gaze to the floor, unsure.
“I don’t want to bother you with all my problems” she whispered.
“You’re not a bother, Kiara,” I said firmly, leaning forward. “You’re important to me. More than you probably realize. And the last thing I want is for you to feel confused.”
She swallowed hard, her hands twisting in her lap. I could tell she was fighting some internal battle, torn between the urge to believe me and the instinct to push me away.
“I…” She hesitated, then shook her head, as if deciding against whatever she was about to say. “I just need some time to process everything, that’s all.”
Her response frustrated me, but I knew better than to push her further. “Alright,” I said, rising to my feet. “I’ll give you time. But Kiara, don’t shut me out completely. Please.”
She nodded, still not meeting my gaze. “Thank you,” she murmured.
I stood there for a moment, torn between wanting to comfort her and respecting her need for space. Finally, I took a step back, my hands clenching into fists at my sides. “I’ll be in my room if you need anything,” I said softly before walking out of her room and shutting the door behind me and going straight into my room.
I will give her the rest of today to process her thoughts and move on with my plan tomorrow, because this is the only chance I have to tell her how I feel.
