Fear. That's the first thing that went through my head when I heard the zerg was attacking. These ones...they weren't like before. Even before the sworm was shattered when we attacked char and converted the queen of blades back to her human form. The zerg would attack violently but after a while, they would stop after they suffered segnificant losses. Then they'd come back stronger and with double...most of the time triple the numbers and overwhelm us. These ones though. It took so much just to stop a zergling. Normally we'd strug them off but these ones. They were the monsters I heard about in the stories. In the brood war. They didn't stop. I don't know what they did but these zerg on this rock sent waves in and it only took one to take out this base. We didn't stand a chance. This was worse then the landing on char and that was enough blood to fill an ocean. This time. We didn't even dent thier numbers. I get up and look out into the sea of bodies laying on the ground. I saw some movement witch ended up being some feral zerg that got stranded. I didn't even want to move but now things are quite. I take a step outside and look around. No movement. Just the dry wind. I take another step and keep my guns up just in case. I look around as my metal feet pound onto the ground as I make sure nothings left. I slowly lower my arms as I don't see or hear anything. Just a sea of bodies and the wind blowing past my thick helmet. Damn I'm hungry. It's been a few days and I still don't know what that explosion was. It sounded like someone set off a nuke. I ralease a breath of pure raleaf as now I can move around freely. I turn and walk back into the distroyed supply depot and walk up to him. I kneel down as he opens his eyes. "Clear?" He's struggling to breath. "Yeah. Thankfully." He doesn't even try to pick up his head. "How you feelin?" I look down at his legs as those spines are still lodged in. I'm suprised the poison hasn't killed him yet. "Been better. Legs went numb three hours ago so I can bearly feel the pain." At least there's that. "Ready to get another one out?" He chuckles weakly. "Why do you keep trying? I'll be dead tomorrow. Just leave me." I lower my blaster and open my hand for the first time in days. I place my hand on his armored shoulder. "I've told you once and I'll say it again. Ain't nobody getting left behind. Not when I'm around." He finally lifts his head to look at me. His armer is locked witch means his power cells are dead again. Why couldn't the dominion give him a better marine suit? Those assholes are going to have one pissed off havey blaster pointed at thier faces when I get ahold of em. "Just go. I'm not worth it." I remove my hand and look at a spine that's sticking out of an edge that didn't go in fully. "It always worth it to get a bratha back home." I pull it out as I look for more and get him cleaned up. I leave the more embedded spines in as he can't afford to lose more blood. We've removed sevral already but there's still about five left that are in bad areas. He'll bleed out before I can even get him some water. "You've always been a stubborn asshole." I chuckle. "Damn straight. Don't forget it." He chuckles as I place my hand on his shoulder again. "I'll see if I can find a medkit. I can't do much a out your suit but I can make sure your healthy enough to get moving if shit hits the fan again." He leans his head back again. "Don't get your hopes up, Johnson. You heard them. They took as much as they could and left." I stand up. "But there's still equipment and bodies out there. There's going to be something. There has to be." I ball my fists and activate my punisher again. I look at the rotating cylinder as the center glows. "Don't you die on me. I'll be back." Flowers chuckles. "Well...when you put it like that." I shake my head. "We're getting out off of this rock...togeather and if there's any survivers, I'll be damned if I can't get them off to." He smiles. "You haven't changed a bit. Good huntin." I turn and walk out of the distroyed doorway. "There has to be something." Keep telling yourself that buddy.
I walk around and look down at the corpses as many of these marines didn't get a chance to get a rifle. I don't even see any of thier suits still running. I kneel down and flip a marine over as I see a spine shift as then I roll him on his back, I see a spine hit his forhead as it went straight through as I don't even know if it hit the power cells. It hit something since the suit is stiff. I hear something clang as I shoot up and active my punisher. I slowly look around and keep my arms up. I hear it again as I see something move a few feet away. I trian both punishers on it as I slowly inch twords it. I see big movement as I freeze and whatch it carfully. "Your not getting me!" I see a guass rifle being lifted as I dive to the right as a burst Flys past me. "Friendly! Friendly!" I whatch the rifle fall as I slowly get up. "Medic?" I get to my feet as I approuch the voice as I look down at a marine as his eyes are covered in blood. "No but I can help." I kneel down as I shift my arm and open my hand. I grab onto a water tube on the marine suit here on as I gently lift it and bring it close to his eyes. "Don't move. Just tell me when to stop." I find the arm it's connected to as I grab it and shake it as the suits still active. I find the leg where the panel is to activate the water flow as I tap it and water slowly starts to come out of the tube as I carfuly wash his eyes out. "A-any other...survivers?" I use the tube to get the dried blood moved off of his eyes as I make sure thier thoroughly cleaned. I pull the tube back and drop it as he takes in a deep breath. "You me and one other. Today's been a quite day so this is my first time getting out for a long time." He tries to sit up as I help him as his suits still active to. I whatch him as he lifts his hand and tries to rub his eyes then relizes he's still in his suit. "I heard them patrolling around. I couldn't do anything expect play dead. Was lucky they didn't sniff me out." I whatch him as he slowly opens his eyes and looks around. "Holy shit." He looks up at me and pouses. "Damn. I didn't expect to have a muarader save me." I help him move as he doesn't move his legs. "You hit?" He looks down as he starts to move his legs as I see a spine lodged in his left leg. "My stim isn't working." He lifts his hand and hits his side as I hear something whirling. "Damnit. Something got knocked lose. I can't get the infusion." I look at where he hit his chest as I see a panel hanging off. Dominion tech. Only the dominion started giving out the stim infusions amongst the marine ranks. It's was only used for spec ops but when they ramped up production, alot more marines started getting things done in a fire fight. You can get shot in the chest and get a infusion and truck on like nothing happened. He hits the panel again as I stop him. "Panels lose. Hold up." I push the panel back in as I hear a click. "That's it." He reaches down and tries to pull out the spine but it's to painful for him. "I got it." I grab the spine and pull it out quickly as he leans back. "That's the stuff." He moves his leg as he starts to get up. "That's the real good shit." I stand up as I hold my hand out. "Looks like our lucks turnin around." He looks up at my hand then grabs it. "If you survived the there might be others somewhere around here." I pull him up as he looks around. "I just hope one of em's a medic." I look down and see the marine he landed on as the suits active but it only has one power cell. "Let's not get our hopes up. Best thing to try and find first is a medkit. Hopefully a supply depots still standing. That'll be the best bet." I kneel down and grab the handle of the power cell. "Whatr you doing?" I twist and pull the power cell our as it's distroyed. I toss it away as I grab the other one and carfully pull it out as it's intacted. Thank God. Things really are turning around. "My buddies wounded and his suits damaged. I could only find dusted power cells in the depot we held up in." I so happy we're able to do this now. "And he's still alive?" I stand back up as I look back at the marine. "Bearly. Neither of us have the infusion so we're stuck with the old fashion way." He looks around. "Guess the dominion still doesn't treat the raiders right then." I chuckle. "We're used to it. Don't forget: it was us that started the revolution. It's not like the people we fought agenst can forget and forgive easy either." I look around as I can see a few buildings are still standing. "Yeah...at least you boys know how to take care of eachother though." We look back at eachother. "I have an idea where some survivers are. I'll go check it out and see if I can get some supplies to. The way to the new base is quite the hike so well need as much as we can get our hands on." Good. "If we can get some weapons, we'll at least have the ability to defend ourselves for bit. I know a barracks didn't get out so that'll be the place to go to." I hear a whirling again as I look down as my left leg gets stiff again. "Damn. Not again." I hit my hip as the suit doesn't losen up. "What's wrong with your suit?" I hit my hip again as I feel something ralease but my leg is still stiff. "I got tossed a few times. I must have crashed into something and it knocked out a few screws." He walks behind me and starts messing with my suit. "Here it is." He pushes on something as my leg losens up as my visor kicks on fully. "Did that work?" My map comes up as my radio kicks on to. "Oh yeah. Everything's kicking back on now." We walks back infront of me as I'm already getting radio chatter but it's faint. "Le...more...retr...now!" I tap on my helmet as I lose the signal. "Sounds like somethings going down. I'm picking up a weak signal." Can't think about it now. "Must be the new base. Let's get ourselves squared away first." I nod. "Your radio workin?" He nods. "Good. Open channel 30405A. There's a depot surrounded by dead zerg nearby. Meet me there when you've gathered all you can. I'll head back and make sure my buddy is alright then I'll search our here more. If you survived then there might be others. If not, I'll see if I can't scrounge up some weapons and supplies." He nods as he lowers his visor. "Got it. Let's hope this is a smooth ride." I look down. "Don't get your hopes up." He starts to walk twords the center of the base. "Right. Either way, we have to get moving. There's no telling when the zerg will come back." Yeah...hopefully our guys are already putting the hurt on them. I just hope they leave some for me. I've got some payback in store of them.
