We keep walking as I'm hearing the groans of pain behind me. We've been walking for a few hours now but we're almost at the new base. We should be seeing them here soon. "Come on, we're almost there." I feel Flowers stumbles as he falls to his knees. "Damnit!" I help Flowers down as I lay him on his back. "Whats wrong?" He lifts his hand as I can hear the suit struggling to move. I look up at the ground. "Take a breather. We're close so we can afford some time to recover a big." I look back down at flowers as the medic walks over. "Where does it hurt?" Flowers drops his arm as I can see the lights flickering in his suit. "It's...the suit. I can't...move." I look around his suit as I can see some of the tubes and pipes to move the suit are freezing up. "The pipes are freezing up." I shift a little bit as I push one of my punishers back as I open my hand for the first time in hours. I reach around and grab one of the power cells and turn it. I pull it out as the cell is damaged from coolant. "Damnit. You've got a coolant leak somewhere. Your armers trashed." I struggle to push the cell back in as it won't turn anymore. "That...explains why I'm...im cold." I look around as I see damage from the spikes that went through his armer. I slowly sit him up as I can see coolant leaking out. "We gotta get you out of the suit." The medic continues to look him over. "We cant do that out here. We don't have the tools to get him out safely." My map pops up as in seeing zerg rushing over to us. "We've got zerg inbound!" The wound huddle up with guass rifles as the healthy soldiers take positions to protect them. "This is not was We needed right now!" Thier closing fast. "Whatever your going to do, do it now." Funny. Thier comming from the base. "Hold on, hold on." I continue to whatch my map as it's small to be a attack party. "Thier comming from the base." I look to my right. "I see them!" I stand up as I activate my punisher and walk to the front of the formation. "Don't shoot till I give the command." I whatch as I can see some zerglings running twords us. They don't have those red eyes though. "Hold." I take in a deep breath. "Hold." Thier slowing down. They start to inch closer as their not attack us. Its a small group of about a dozen zerglings. "Come on...thier getting to close man." They stop a few feet away from up as I keep my blasters up. "Why aren't they attacking?" I slowly lower my blasters as they just sit there. Waiting. "Stand down." I hear the whispering behind me. "I said, stand down." They came from the for a reason. "Look. Thier tails." I look at thier tails as all of them have a purple stripe going down the tail. "Friendly?" I take a few steps forward as the one zergling in front down the same. I kneel down and look at the slimy monster. It bows it's head as a diffrent brood mother is controlling them. We've been attacked if they weren't trying to do something else. "They came from the base for a reason." But why? "Scouts?" I stand back up. "Maybe but let's get to the base. We're almost there and these zerglings came from it to. I just wish I knew why." I turn back around and walk back to Flowers. "We've got more comming!" I look back as I see the zerglings staring the right. I follow thier gaze as my map comes back up. "I don't think those ones are as friendly." Damnit! "Get up Flowers! We have to go!" I turn back and see flowers isn't moving. "I...I cant." I can see him gritting his teeth. "We have to go!" I kneel next to flowers as I can see him trying to move but the suit isn't responding. "I...I cant...move." I reach downband grab his arm as I lift him up. "Ahhhh! Dont do that! Stop! Stop!" I slowly lay him down. "That...hurts. alot." Damnit. How am I going to get him back. "Go. Just leave. Im slowing you down." I look at his back and see his power cells ruptured. "Why are you still here? Go!" I shake my head. "Im not leaving you." I stand back up and look at my hands. "We have to leave. There's no saving him." I look up and see a marine looking at me. "There's one way to get him back." I bring one of my guns out as I look down at flowers. "Sit him up." I reach down and grab onto flowers suit. "I dont know if this'll work." He gives me a concerned look. I look back up at the marine. "Help sit him up!" He snaps back and rushed to his left side. He helps me sit flowers up. "Hold him." I let him go and look at the back of the suit. "This...might hurt." I slowly lift my punisher and aim straight down his back. "Your not doing what I thinks your doing." I get ready to fire as I slowly lift my punisher a little higher. "Just hold him." I hope this works. "Dont do it!" I pull the trigger as the shell cust right through his armer and explodes under him. "What the hell?!" I pull my punisher back and move as I start tearing apart his armer. I open the back and see his back. "Just...a little...more." I get my fingers in and slowly pull his suit apart as I use as much force as messisary but slowly enough to not slit flowers in half. "Were running out of time!" I manage to get the suit open enough as I grab flowers and slowly pull him out. "Carful! My legs are about to get ripped off!" I do one more yank as I manage to pull flowers out without hurting him to badly as I lift him up and lay him on my shoulder. "GO!" I rush forward and bolt for the base. "GO GO GO GO GO!" I don't stop as if we're cought now, everyone's dead. All of this would have been for nothing. "Johnson!" I glance behind and see someone collapsed few feet away. I stop and stop the medic. "Take him and run." I pass flowers on as she carries him. "You won't make it." Well see about that. "Whatch me." I bolt back and rush to the marine. "Stop dragging ass!" I stop and grab his arm. I pick him up as he stumbles a little bit. "Run!" He shakes his head and starts running for the base. I see him limping as I look down and see something sticking out of his leg. "Dont slow down!" I feel something hit my back as I glance back and see the zerg berroling twords us. "Im not going to make it! Were dead!" I activate my punishers and stop. "Ive got your back! Just run!" I turn and lift my guns. If im going down, im taking as many of these ugly critters with me. I fire once and hit a zergling that was close was it blows up, spewing blood all over me. I aim at the next and fire as my blast lands infront of it. It stumbles and tumbles over, knocking down a few running behind it. A spine bounces off of my chest as I quickly recover, aim and fire at the hydralist. I hit it directly on the skull as it tumbles over. I start to back up as I keep firing as fast at my punishers will let me. "Johnson! Lets go!" I take a few more as the concussion blasts slow down a few zerg near my as I turn and bolt. I feel a few more spines hit my back but I keep running. I feel something hit the back of my head as I get dazed and fall face first into the dirt. I struggle to recover as I slowly turn and lay on my back. I shake my head and open my eyes to see a zergling pouncing of me as I quickly lift one of my arms and blast it. Its corpse lands on me as I see another rushing twords me. I lift my free arm and blast it as push off the one laying on me. "Cover him!" I look up and see more zerglings rushing me as the suddenly collapse. "Get up muarader!" I look to my right and see a reaper standing over me with his pistals raised. "No time to bleed! Get up and go!" I slowly get up as I continue running for the base. I feel something hit my back as I stumble again. "Damnit!" I turn and blast the hydralists that keep hitting me as I see an unending tide of zerg. "Damn. Looks like we've kicked the nest this time boys." I slowly back up and continue firing as I cant retreat if I keep getting hit in the back. "Get down!" I get pulled as I fall on my ass and see a wall of bullets fly over me. "Stay down!" I look to my right and see the reapers have dropped to. I look forward and see the zerg retreating. "Thier falling back." The bullets stop flying as the reapers slowly get back up. "I just love it when a plan comes togeather." The holster thier pistals as I take a minute to chatch my breath. "Things are heating up again. The hive must be growing again." Hive? What hive? "Just means we get more bugs to blow up." One of the reapers holds up a demolition charge. "Hell yeah. Lets make sure they dont get back up." The turn and start walking back to the base. What the hell is going on? I see a puff of dust kick up infront of me. "Looks like you saved the survivers." I whatch as a ghost decloacks infront of me. I look up and see a specter mask that rises, revealing a fremlier face. "Colenel sheep?" I slowly get up. "Your alive! Man is it good to see you." I deactivate my punishers. "No time to celebrate. We've got work to do." He walks past me and I turn and follow closely behind. "Thank you, Colonel. No telling what could have happened if you didnt see us." We get past the cannon line as I see the group I helped get here. I see flowers laying on the ground but I dont see him moving. "Flowers!" I rush to him and kneel down next to him as he's looking around. "Hes alright thanks to you. Some bumps and bruises not to mention some mild burns but he'll make it." He's...going to live. I look at him and see him moving around. "Damn...its been forever since I could move around again." Hes smiling again. "Now let's see if they'll give you a suit that actually works." He chuckles. "I dont think so. I think I may be down and out this time." I look and see his arms and legs are covered in bruises. "Since his suit shut down with him still inside it, im afraid some of the internals may have collapsed. We dont know if he has any broken bones but it's safe to say he'll be walking again after some rest." Good. I tap his leg. "Hear that buddy? You live to fight another day." He gives me a smile. "Thanks to you." He lowers his head. "Thanks man." He slowly rests his head on the ground. "For not giving up on me." I nod. "Noone get lefts behind." He chuckles. "You would have done the same for me." He closes his eyes. "Yeah. And I'd kick your ass if you gave up on yourself." I still remember that promise. "Yeah. I kicked your for giving up to." He lifts his hands. "You sure did. Im definitely going to be sore for a while." I gently place my hand on his shoulder. "Alright. Lets get him to the barracks." I slowly stand up and look at the colonel. "The medics will take care of him." I nod. "Its time you all got briefed. Weve got some intel everyone needs to know." I raise my guns. "Just tell me where to shoot, Sir." He nods. "You've got something alot of people dont have. Come on. We've got a brief to get to." I nod. "Yes sir." He turn and starts walking as I follow closely behind. Looks like we've managed to secure our spot on this rock. Time to take it back from the zerg. Just like old times.
