WELCOME TO MY WORLD, TALI. ❞
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

THE TRUCK RUMBLED down the damp road, mist clinging to the trees. Talia watched the passing scenery, her fingers tapping lightly against her knee.

"Hey, I almost forgot to tell you, a few of us from school are going to go watch that action movie in theaters called Face Punch after school. You wanna come? Jacob's tagging along too." Bella asked as she drove to the high school.

Talia glanced over at her friend before asking, "uh, do you know what time?"

Bella furrowed her eyebrows replying, "it's at 6, I think. Why?"

"I told Kim I'd hang out with her after school." Talia explained. "She's going to help me talk to her manager and hopefully I can get a job at the cafe. She also wants to introduce me to some of her friends after. They're in the program in La Push."

Bella nodded, focusing on the road ahead sort of ignoring the idea that Talia was making other friends. "Oh, okay. Makes sense. A job would be nice, especially since you're staying here for a while."

Talia let out a little sigh pushing her hair away from her face. "Yeah, I kinda need it to pay off the little bit of the tuition I have left. Plus, Kim thinks I'd be a good fit, so fingers crossed."

"You will be," Bella assured her. "But does that mean you're skipping the movie?"

Talia hesitated for a second, then shrugged. "Not necessarily. I just don't know how long I'll be with Kim. If it runs late, I might have to pass."

Bella shot her a sideways look wishing Talia was available to hang out this evening. "Hey, you sure you're alright?"

Bella had picked up on her unusual quietness this morning. Talia forced a small smile nodding. "Yeah, I'm just kind of getting the hang of this town again. I almost forgot how cold it is."

The truth was, she was quiet because she didn't want to lie to Bella about her plans for the rest of the day. She wasn't just going to see Kim. She'd be meeting up with Embry later at Emily's place, where she'd officially meet Sam, Paul, and Emily—and Paul's imprint, who was apparently one of Jacob's older sisters that Talia hadn't met yet. So obviously out of her guilt, Talia didn't want to say much.

Bella nodded but didn't push any further. "Alright, well, if you finish up early, you should come. Even if the movie sucks, it'll be something to do."
