The boy who saved the light

Chapter 22

Wilbur had just defeated those dark-cloud knights, whatever they were, and he looked pretty awesome-and kind of hot-while doing it.

He talked to the lady at the door, and then came back over to me. I wanted to yell at him for almost getting himself killed and being stupid, but he seemed pretty exhausted, so I didn't.

We definitely weren't going to be staying anywhere in this town, because of what he just did. We needed to get moving so we could find a place to sleep, even if it would be in some woods again.

We kept walking, and I had to help Wilbur to keep him from falling over. His magic had drained him more than even he expected it to. We found another patch of woods that we could hide in for the night. We both laid down, wanting to rest after everything that had happened.

I fell asleep almost instantly. I woke up in another dream, and I saw that Wilbur was standing next to me. He had a look of pure horror on his face. I wasn't even sure if it was actually him or if it was just another dream version of him. If in that last dream that was actually him, he had a lot of explaining to do.

"Why am I back here..." He whispered to himself. "Ugh, where are we?" I asked, looking around. "This is the castle of the Bright realm." He said. "I'm not sure why I'm back though..." He has been here before?

We walked around, Wilbur leading the way. He somehow seemed to know his way around this place, as if he explored it.

We soon found ourselves in front of a large door. "This is the throne room." He said. "My dreams showed me this place."

So that's why he's been here before.

Wilbur slowly opened the door, and we walked in. "I don't think anyone can see us." He said. I saw the tyrant sitting on the throne. I learned that his name was Alex, and that he did look similar to Wilbur. I still could not believe that he might be his son. I'm sure Wilbur didn't want to.

Alex was yelling at a woman. "I have a family!" She pleaded. "I couldn't care less about your family. You can cry all you want, but it's not going to help you. You had your chance to pay your tithes, and you failed to do so. Take her away to the dungeon!"

Wow, he really did live up to his name as a tyrant. The shadow knights went up and grabbed her, and took her away to the dungeon.

Another knight approached Alex. "Your highness, I have some news." The knight said. "Ugh, what is it?" Alex asked, clearly annoyed. "You're not gonna like this, but all of the knights that were sent to a woman's house to collect her money were killed."

"What?!" Alex seemed pissed. "No one has ever been able to defeat my shadow knights before!"

"Some people t-told me a-a young boy killed them off. I'm not sure about anything else."

They were talking about Wilbur. He was the one who killed them off. "Find that boy, now!" He yelled. "And get me those people who saw him. I want a description of what he looks like."

"Yes sir!" That knight ran off. Alex no longer looked angry. He actually looked scared. "If he can defeat your shadow knights he can defeat you." I looked down to see someone else chained by the next to the throne. He looked like he hadn't bathed in months and was very weak. "Shut up! I hate having to listen to you! I may have liked you in the past, but that has changed!"

Wait, what did he mean by that?

"He isn't going to kill me. I'll make sure of it."

We both suddenly woke up. "What the hell was that?" I asked. Wilbur didn't answer. He couldn't. He looked very scared.

I quickly sat up. "Hey, it's going to be okay." I said. "No it's not! I killed those knights, and now Alex is trying to find me! Why did I do that? Why?" I was definitely right for not yelling at him yesterday. He was blaming himself for all of this, and I just couldn't stand for it.
