(Matteo POV)

I returned to my dorm shortly after eating breakfast. Lying on my bed, I was killing time listening to music while typing some notes in my dossier on my computer tablet.

...

What happened in the dining hall was a whirlwind of back-to-back events. From the blackmail letter copies to the needless questioning, the spat with Grace, and all of it finally tying up in anticlimax with Cassidy and Jett's game tournament.

Whatever I was anticipating for how things were going to proceed with everything out in the open, it was far from what I was calculating. But then again...that's emotion for you—too unpredictable to control how it could affect the outcome of an otherwise timely design.

Haah... Well, that's a pain.

Indifferent to this outcome, all it meant was that a different approach was necessary. I wasn't about to let things go to chance now. At the very least, it made for a rather...informative display regarding what lay behind the masks of some of my classmates. But regardless, I didn't need to stress about things too much.

Breakfast had just finished, and I could use a little downtime to perk me up.

🍎 FREE TIME...START! 🍎

Doing my usual routine for locking my dorm, I took a walk around the building seeing if I could find something to do.

I was planning on messing around with the pachinko machine again, but that seemed like it would be a little repetitive to do a second time around. Either way, while I was thinking, I had already entered the courtyard.

There, I saw Ingrid and Toshiko chatting. However, they both seemed to be busy so I couldn't say that talking was much of an option.

It's not like butting in is any of my business anyhow.

However, another person seemed to be eyeing me from the corner of my peripheral vision.

Wenona stood there, leaning back against the hedge. Looking as uptight as ever, she clearly hadn't forgotten anything about what happened with me this morning. I was curious if there was anything to be gained from talking with her since our track record hasn't been positive, to put things lightly. Although, compared to Grace, I doubt she'd have much to nag me about.

I figured it wouldn't hurt to get a deeper look at what the entrepreneur's story was.

With that, I walked over to her to see what she was eyeing me for.

"I'm surprised you want to talk with me. I took you for someone who wasn't keen on being around bothersome characters," said the Ultimate Entrepreneur.

"Well, I guess you thought wrong then. To be frank, I'm not one to hold a grudge, so long as they're interfering with my work or anything like that."

"Funny to hear after that little number you pulled this morning."

I gave her a shrug.

"Hm. Whatever you say. Whether you actually know my secret or not, I couldn't care less," she started, "Of course, I have to say, I've had an eye on you for a while...and I have to say: there's some promise to be had."
