Jinx
After we witnessed Ashton and Elsa driving away, and school finally ended, we decided to go to a nearby park. Yellow picked dandelions and tied the ends together to make a flower crown, while Basil, Lyric, and I occupied the swing set. Everyone seemed to be in a bad mood. I mean, why wouldn't they be? Our plan had failed. There was no way to split apart Elsa and Ashton now. I dreaded what was to come.
"This is all our faults. My baby cousin is going to loose her v-card to some arrogant, nasty, buff, jerk face because we didn't warn her enough." Lyric mumbles, kicking a rock into the grass.
"We did all that we could, Lyric. It was Elsa's choice." Yellow gives her a sad smile. Lyric shakes her head.
"We could've done more."
"No, no we couldn't have." I say. "Now let's stop focusing on that and worry about what's to come. I might loose my virginity!"
Suddenly, Lyric stands up from her swing. She turns towards me with a look that could kill. Her pointer finger is aimed directly at me.
"I'm sick and tired of it all being about you! 'Oh, I'm just poor little Jinx, I don't want to loose my virginity to him'! Grow up. We all did it, and you'll have to too!" She yells. My eyes widen as I stand up.
"Oh, I'm the one who needs to grow up? You can't even talk to a guy without having a nervous breakdown or tripping! You let Ashton play his little game just so you could get with Calum, and last I checked, you wanted to help me so Ashton wouldn't get his way!" I raise my voice just enough to make my point heard. Lyric's nose scrunches up like a bunny.
"You know what? I feel sorry for Ashton. He'll have to put up with you for a night." In that moment, I swear a little chunk of my heart broke off and rised up into my throat. I couldn't breath.
Lyric stormed off from the playground. I practically fell to the ground and hugged my knees to my chest. I thought we were friends. Friends aren't supposed to make eachother feel like this.
"Jinx, don't worry about her. She's just mad about Elsa. She'll be okay tomorrow." Yellow says. Basil comes to sit next to me on the ground. Her arms wrap around me, but it didn't make me feel any better. I just felt like bursting into tears. So that's what I did.

The next day, I sat next to Lyric in History. Not because there was nowhere else to sit, but because I wanted to apologize. Everything she said was true. I was only thinking about myself in this. Now Elsa's heart is going to break and it'll be all my fault.
"This week we're going to be doing projects on the ancient city of Pompeii! You can choose anything about it to do your project on. No written report is required. I have your partners right here." Mr. Green says. Students groan when they hear that we have assigned partners. I don't really care about that though. Pompeii was always a favorite subject for me back in America.
"Tommy with Ella. Derek with Austin. Emily with Val. Jinx with Lyric." Soon, Mr. Green finishes assigning the partners and dismisses everyone to get to work. I shuffle my chair over to Lyric's desk. Her eyes stare down at her hands that are on her desk.
"So I was thinking we could do the project on the clothing style in A.D. 79." I say. She only nods a bit at the idea. I sigh, take out a piece of paper from my bag, and start writing down ideas for the project. Looks like I'll have to do this by myself.

Lyric and I haven't talked for the whole day. Even when Elsa came to talk to us for 0.5 seconds, she didn't talk. Apparently Ashton didn't make a move on her last night, which made me feel ten times better. Now it's lunch time. Lyric decided to sit by herself at a table in the back instead of with Yellow, Basil, and I. Our lunch table is silent except for the sounds of forks hitting trays.
I feel someone slide onto the bench and feel our hips touch. I turn towards the person, hoping to see Lyric so I could tell her how sorry I was. But that's not who I see at all. Instead I get Ashton with his cocky smirk.
"Hey Jinxy." He says. I send a glare towards him.
"Don't call me that."
"You could call me Ashy if you wanted. Or babe, or handsome, or-" I cut him off before I can hear any of the other horrible nicknames he wanted me to call him. I'm already having a bad day, I don't need him making it worse.
"I'll stick with Ashton, thanks." I scoot a little bit away from him.
"So I was thinking, maybe we could go to the fair on saturday together." He suggests. I grimace at the thought of him and I kissing at the top of a farris wheel together. I'd rather push myself off.
"I'm sorry, but weren't you just on a date with Elsa?" I ask. A hint of anger is present in my voice. Ashton gives me one of his signature smirks.
"Oh please Jinx. We all know I'll be done with her by Saturday." Suddenly, someone clears their throat behind us. I turn to see Lyric standing there with her arms crossed over her chest, an evil glare in her eyes.
"You know what else you'll be done with by Saturday, Ashton? Begging my best friend to go on dates with you. Trust me, she does not want to." Lyric says. The next thing I know, she has the back of his shirt in her grip, and is pulling him up from next to me. "Also, you're in my seat."
As soon as Ashton has gone back to his table, I wrap Lyric in a bear hug.
"I missed you." I confess.
"I missed you too, Jinx."

"Hey, what did Spongebob say to Patrick?" Basil asks us as we're waiting outside for my mom to pick us up. Yellow, Lyric, and I shrug in unison.
"I sea you! Get it? Cause they live in the sea!" Basil laughs at her own joke, but I'm not laughing. Not just because the joke was bad, but also because Calum was walking up behind her.
"Calum, if you're here to talk to us for Ashton-" Yellow starts to say but he cuts her off.
"I'm not here because of Ashton." I think all of our eyes widened a bit. "Lyric, I was wondering if you want to get some pizza later."
A very confused look appeared on Lyric's face. She also looked a little mad, but I have no idea why.
"You can't tell me what to do. If I want to get pizza for myself later then I will. You can't just tell me to go get some pizza for myself!"
My eyes widened to the size of quarters and so did Calum's. Oh no, she didn't get it. It's time for Jinx to step in.
"Lyric, calm down! That's not what he meant." I exclaim. She gives me a look of confusion. I let out a sigh.
"Lyric, sweety. Would you like to go get pizza with Calum later? Like as a date." I explain. She looks like she's about to choke on her own spit.
"YES! I mean...yah that would be fun." Lyric gives him a "flirty smile" which really just looks like she's drooling.
"Great! I'll pick you up at four then." Calum walks away but Lyric's expression never changes. Basil snaps her fingers in front of Lyric's face.
"HOLY ŠHÏT I'M GOING ON A DATE WITH CALUM HOOD!"
