“Good afternoon, Maahir.”

“Good afternoon, Samar.” I closed the car door and handed the brief to Zain. “Quite  surprise to see you on time.”

"So funny." He pasted a toothy smile.“We should go to your room.”  His glance roamed around and halted at my secretary. Zain bowed down and guided his presence towards the passage. I led the way to the ground-floor elevator and pressed the button for the first floor.

“Is there anything urgent that needs my attention?” I heard him from behind.

“Definitely.”

The door slid open and we walked inside. “By the way, where is Pankti Bhabhi?”

“She is not your bhabhi, Samar.” The door opened with a ding and I set my presence out.

“She is your wife, so logically and legally, she is my bhabhi. I know she is younger-”

I turned suddenly to face him. “How do you know?”

“Zyraan, my brother.” His two fingers air-quoted his claim.

“He is your step-brother, Samarth. Let’s not dig into the fucking past.” I erased the gap between us.

“Maahir,” he sighed, “It would be better if you start treating Kiara as your sister. At least you both share the same father, along with Raghuvanshi in your name.”

“I never hated Kiara in the first place.” I set my walk towards my room.

“Then what is stopping you from accepting her?” I heard him from behind.

“You-” The words refused to complete, coming across Kiara approaching our side.

Her stare turned into a soft gaze locating him standing behind me.

“Good afternoon, Samarth Bhai. What a pleasant surprise!” She smiled and bridged the distance.

“Hello, Kiara. How are you doing?”

“Fine.” She widened her arms and hugged him. “What about you?”

“As good as always. I hope Zyraan hasn’t troubled you much.”

I exhaled a breath hearing his sugary words. It was bizarre to watch him getting along with anyone except his sisters, Zyraan, and me.

“No. Not at all. I understand where he is coming from. I think I should leave.” She threw a glance at my side.
