Lady Harrison walked cautiously over to the open window and held onto the side. She screamed out "Bennet!" Desperately as her voice was muffled by the rain. Her hair static to her face as she screamed out his name. She looked behind herself to Doctor Thomas and sighed. She looked back and gasped as she saw him lying sprawled out on the ground. Practically throwing herself away from the window she ran down the stairs to the yard to get to Bennet.
Gripping the doors handle she launched herself outside to Bennet's bloodied body. Doctor Thomas wasn't far behind her. The rain continued to pelt down and every now and then rolls of thunder shook the town. Ignoring her beautifully embroidered evening dress she knelt down in the mud to feel for his pulse. Doctor Thomas knelt on the other side of him resting his head on his chest to check if Bennet was breathing.
Bennet took a shallow breath and Lady Harrison breathed a sigh of relief. Her boy was safe. She thought and her heart beat relaxed slightly. Doctor Thomas checked over Bennet and nodded to Lady Harrison. She helped him pick him up and bring him inside out of the rain. Shutting the doors she and Doctor Thomas dragged mud from the yard with them onto the pure white tiles and placed him on the sofa in front of the fire to warm him up. Lady Harrison paced around as Doctor Thomas mixed a medicine for Bennet to take. Thankfully he was ok and he wasn't severely hurt. But Lady Harrison knew Bennet's intention was to end his life. He jumped from the window to stop the plaguing thoughts of Marissa. Of her screams , of her lying lifeless in her own blood. She knew Bennet too well.
Doctor Thomas fed him his concoction and Bennet sat up abruptly spluttering. She looked away as she heard Bennet gasping for air. Another roll of thunder shook the town. The rain continued to fall against the ground creating a continuous rumble. Silence fell in the room apart from Bennet's laboured breaths as he gasped for air to fill his lungs.
