Natasha's POV

The winter Soldier had arrived. I remembered Fury's orders. We were to eliminate the target. Our target was not the winter soldier, thankfully. I lock eyes with Steve and I can see the reluctance to fight him in his eyes because he knows it was his best friend. I get to my feet.

"Steve go! I'll distract him." I say as I know my gun will be useless against him. So I engage in hand to hand combat.

"I'm not letting you fight him. Not alone."

"Remember what I told you? I can take care of myself. The mission is priority." I say rolling so I could escape the punch of his metal arm.

"Not to me. To me you are priority." He says taking his shield.

I smiled, that was the sweetest thing I had heard in a long time. "I know you don't want to fight him..." I say softly.

"You're right I don't."

"Steve, I'll be okay. You can help me after." I say kicking Bucky's knee from behind so he loses his balance as I roll out of the way.

"Promise me!"

"I promise! Now GO!"

I dodge yet another attack. I try to reach the gun he had been holding previously but he was blocking my path. He lunged as I side stepped easily. Bad move. I was now cornered and had no way out.

"Long time no see Natalia." He knew who I was; of course he did he was sent to kill me and that scientist. He gripped my throat with his metal arm, making it very difficult to breathe. That's when I remembered I had a spare gun. I try to reach it when, he throws me across the room effortlessly, my back hits the wall knocking every bit of air out of me. I struggle to get up, my back was burning every new movement made the burn worse but I got up. My breathing was irregular. I look around my vision still adjusting. I see him approaching me there was one way away from the wall. I start running towards him as he begins to get in a fighting stance. I drop and slide through his legs then I reach into my belt and get automatic teasers. I throw them at his feet. I did a somersault to my feet. He gets to his feet as well and I notice that the gun I had completely forgotten about was right beside him.

"Shit." I curse under my breath as he aims and fires. I was too slow as he shot me in the shoulder. I grunt as I grip the wound. I reach for my spare gun and shoot his arm right in the center in the star. He grunts and comes over to me. He did not look happy. Crap. I thought. He was not going to show me mercy. Steven runs in and deflects his arm with his shield. He drops his gun again as Steve was dodging his attacks. I make my way to it by rolling on my non injured side, I stop against the wall.

"Steve, disengage. Move away." I yell frantically, he does and I shoot the grenade at the Soldier's feet. And the explosion disorients him allowing us to get away.

We get to the plane and we take off. I go to the back room and I remove my shirt and take my pocket knife out and make the wound larger, so it would give me Mose space allowing me to scoop out the bullet from my flesh. As soon as it was out I wrap it in gauze dressing and put my arm in a self-made sling. I put on a baggie sweater and zip it up then exit the room. I see Steve sitting down in a chair alone. I walk over and sit beside him.

"Hey." I say as I buckle the seat-belt with one hand.

"How are you feeling?"

"It hurts."

"I'm sorry I was late." He says softly. "I got caught up in an ambush."

"It's not your fault."

"Nat, I don't ever want to lose you."

"Steve you're not going to lose me. I promise."
