The makeup artist delicately swiped their makeup brush across Cale's bottom lips, painting a thin layer of bright red lipstick. They did the same on his top lip, but even thinner.

'The makeup's heavier than I expected. Is the way they present a dead person's body at a funeral different as well?' Cale thought as he sat quickly on the spinning chair in front of the old-fashioned vanity.

The makeup artist gently turned Cale's head towards them. "Please close your eyes."

Cale shut his eyes.

They patted eyeshadow onto Cale's eyelids and blush on his cheeks. Then applied eyeliner and mascara.

Clap clap

"It's done." The makeup artist seemed quite happy with their artwork.

Cale opened his eyes, staring into the mirror in front of him. '...I look like a new person.'

The director took a quick peek outside the curtains. "Performers!" The director of the performance called out. "The show is about to start!"

A lot of the people wearing costumes started to gather around the director.

"Get in position. Ms. Hu Tao will finish her opening speech shortly. When the curtains open, the stage starts!"

"Yes, director!" The crowd confirmed.

"You." The director eyed Cale. "Help him get into the coffin without messing up the clothing."

"Yes, director!" The stage crew hurriedly moved Cale away.

'Isn't this a little too extra?' Cale thought. 'It's not like they'll see me well.' He carefully laid down on the coffin.

"Director! We're finished!" The stage crew shouted.

"Get off the stage then!" The director yelled at them.

"Yes director!"

Cale looked around. 'The coffin's shorter than expected. I guess it is just for decoration after all.' He could see from his sides, which were not blocked by the coffin's view. 'I guess I'll just sleep then.' Cale thought.

The coffin he laid in was covered by a wall made of a thin, transparent sheet of paper splashed traditional paintings.

The stage curtains soon opened, the place lit up with a bright light and music started to play. The performance was held outside in an open stage, one where anyone could see as long as they had eyes.

"Thousands of years ago, lived a red-haired hero."

That was Zhongli's voice. He was part of the performers?

"His beauty and feats spread across Teyvat. It reached the ears of the archons and even the celestial."

The crowd, which Cale assumed was there, was quiet as a squirrel as Zhongli spoke. His voice was fit for a storyteller's.

"The red-haired hero traveled all the way to Liyue. The geo archon, the god of contracts, Rex Lapiz, cold and calculating, fell in awe. A brief moment's passed by as he witnessed a moment he would never forget. Their meeting was short, but the tides were harsher."

Footsteps came closer to Cale.

The paper curtains opened, moving towards the side, allowing way for Zhongli.

"The hero had died."

'How dramatic.' Cale thought. He could feel a shadow loom over his head.

"Rex Lapis mourned his death in tears and sorrow."

Cale could feel his hands enveloping his head, lifting him from the coffin gently. 'He seemed cold and stiff when I met him, didn't expect him to know how to act so emotionally.' Cale sweated by the sudden change.

"His tears fell onto the hero's cheeks, silent as the rain poured heavily. Rex Lapis sat there with his love."

The paper curtains closed back up, then the large curtains, covering the two. Dancers came out in front of the curtains, dancing around simultaneously.

"Cale, get up." Zhongli whispered into his ears. "It's time for the next part."

Cale opened his eyes. 'Am I done...?' He stood up.

Zhongli held his hand out, helping Cale step out of the coffin.

The stage crew dragged the coffin off stage. Buildings and other props came onto the stage.
