Damon's eyes remained locked on his hands as the golden glow began to flicker, his chest rising and falling rapidly. The air around him hummed with raw power, vibrating with his every breath. He was trembling, not from weakness, but from the overwhelming surge of magic coursing through him.
Bonnie took a cautions step closer, her voice soft and steady. "Damon? You need to calm down. Focus on my breathing."
He looked up at her, his eyes still burning gold, now swirling with hints red. His voice came out hoarse, shaken, "I... I can't control it. It's like it's alive."
"Because it is," Bonnie whispered, her expression a mixture of awe and fear. She could feel the magic rolling off him in waves, ancient and powerful. She had never felt anything like it before. It was chaotic, unrestrained.
Stefan's hands were on Damon's shoulders, trying to steady him. "Hey, look at me, Damon. We're right here. You're not alone."
Damon's body shuddered, the golden light sparking around him, igniting the air. A nearby lamp shattered, glass raining down. Stefan flinched but didn't move away.
"I... I'm going to hurt someone," Damon choked out, his eyes wide with panic. "I can't control feel it burning inside me."
Bonnie moved closer, her hands glowing faintly as she tired to create barrier around his magic, but it fizzled out the moment it touched his aura. Damon's power was too potent, too wild.
"You won't," she insisted, her voice firm. "We're going to go through this. You just need to breathe."
But Damon's breaths were coming in short gasps, the pain rising. He closed his eyes, willing the magic to stop, to go away, but it only flared brighter, the red swirling more violently within the gold.
Klaus, Elijah, and Kol entered, their faces drawn and weary from battle. But the moment they saw Damon—eyes glowing, magic cracking around him—they went still. Klaus was the first to speak, his eyes wide with shock, "Bloody hell..."
Elijah took a step closer, his face a mask of concern. "Damon... your eyes."
Damon looked up, and the golden-red eyes stared back at them. Klaus's jaw tightened, the retaliation settling in. "The legend... the Le Rouge power."
Kol's expression softened, his usual smirk absent. "You stubborn fool," he muttered, his voice almost affectionate. "Only you would survive something like this."
Damon tried to laugh, but it came out as a strangled sob. "I don't know how to stop it."
Klaus moved closer, his tone surprisingly gentle. "Then don't. Not yet. Let it run its course darling."
Damon looked up at him, his eyes pleading. "It's too much. It's too... loud."
Kol sat beside him, his hand resting on Damon's shoulder. "You're not alone, sweetheart. We've got you."
The words broke something in Damon, and is body shook as tears fell down his cheeks, the magic finally beginning to stabilise, the glow dimming slightly. He leaned into Kol's touch, his eyes falling shut as exhaustion took over. Kol slowly runs his hands through his hair hoping that it relaxes Damon.
Klaus exchanged a look with Elijah, the two brothers nodding in silent agreement. Whatever this was, whatever Damon was becoming, they weren't going to let him face it alone.
Meanwhile, in an abandoned building, the remnants of the battle lay scattered across the floor. Isolde's lifeless body lay crumpled in the corner, her eyes wide open, a look of disbelief frozen on her cracked face.
But the room wasn't empty.
In the shadows, a figure stepped forward, his fingers tracing the ancient symbols on the wall. A low chuckle escaped his lips as his eyes glowed a deep crimson. "So... it's begun."
He turned his gaze to Isolde's body, his smile widening. "Foolish woman. You never stood a chance."
With a wave of his hand, the air shimmered, and the body disintegrated into ashes. The figure stepped over them, his eyes narrowing as he looked toward the direction of the Mikaelson mansion.
"I'll see you soon, Le Rouge..."
