(Helicopters are still flying around the ferry. Peter is perching on the edge of a building, sans mask, when Iron Man flies over to him. "Previously on Peter Screws the Pooch: I tell you to stay away from this. Instead, you hack multimillion-dollar suit so you could sneak around behind my back doing the one thing I told you not to do.")
"Are you okay Peter?' 'Did you get hurt Peter?" Matt says mockingly.
"I was angry." Tony says through gritted teeth, "I messed up. Like you've never done anything wrong out of anger."
Matt doesn't respond but clenches his jaw. Tony takes it as a win.
("Is everyone okay?" Peter asks. "No thanks to you." "No thanks to me?" Peter jumps off the edge and approaches Tony angrily, "Those weapons were out there, and I tried to tell you about it. But you didn't listen. None of this would've happened if you had just listened to me. If you even cared, you'd actually be here.")
"He kind of has a point Tony." Steve says hesitantly.
(The Iron Man suit opens, revealing Tony inside.)
"Oh." Says Steve sheepishly.
"He still has a good point with the other things he said." Natasha says.
(He steps down from the suit and marches towards Peter, who backs off. "I did listen, kid. Who do you think called the FBI, huh?")
"That was you?" Kate asks.
Tony stares at the floor, "I was trying to do the right thing." He mutters.
"And you did." Pepper says softly, "It was the right thing but you needed to communicate with Peter better." Tony nods.
("Do you know that I was the only one who believed in you? Everyone else said that I was crazy to recruit a fourteen year old kid.")
"That's gaslighting," says Matt annoyingly clam, "you know that right."
Tony's hands gripped his seat's armrests. Bruce looked at him in concern. If Tony had his powers he knew that the man would be green in the face. The other heroes looked wary of the tension and impending fight as well.
"Matt." Peter says in warning.
("I'm fifteen." "No, this is where you zip it, all right!? The adult is talking. What if someone had died tonight? Different story, right? 'Cause that's on you. And if you died, I feel like that's on me. I don't need that on my conscience.")
"It would've been on you. You threw him out there with no training and basically no way to ask for help!" Matt says in anger, "You might have saved him but you didn't care!"
"I DO CARE!" Tony yells, "I know that I messed up, I know I was wrong, and I changed! I changed and I love Peter because he's my son! I don't even know who you are yet you're acting like you have a personal issue with me! Why?!"
"Because I'm Peter's boyfriend and I love him!" Matt shouts.
It was silent. Pure shock at the reveal and people waiting for the armored hero's response. The only noise was Matt's almost heaving breaths.
"He deserves everything." Matt continued much quieter. "Your death hurt him so much, it still does sometimes. He's been through so much. If he didn't miss you...it'd be one less thing to hurt him."
Peter takes his boyfriend's hand in his own and gives him a watery smile, understanding the true reason behind his harshness towards the older man. Peter leans his head on Matt's shoulder and whispers, "I love you. I love how you look after me and will do anything to protect me. From physical and mental pain."
