It was nearly five in the morning and I packed the last of the bags with Mikey. In nearly ten minutes Sophie would be on her way to New York. I do not want to lose this girl.
I closed the trunk of her mothers blue Camry Hybrid and leaned against the car with Mikey by my side. She stepped out of the house with the rest of the crew and the girls and they all said their goodbyes. After, she stepped over to where I was on the passenger side. I looked her in the eyes and took her into my embrace. It was a perfect three month anniversary, the twilight, the dewy grass, her warmth, the sun barely up, the pale lighting. It was simply perfect. Before we pulled away, I slipped the ring I had gotten her with the note rolled up and slipped it through the hole into her black tote bag. When her hazel eyes met mine, I felt weak at the knees. I cupped her face in mine and pressed my lips onto hers. It lasted barely five seconds before we broke contact.
"Just don't forget me,"
"As long as you're someone worth remembering,"
"I promise,"
"Happy three months," she smiled slightly as her pale features graced towards my neck and clipped a necklace. It was a new dog tag with the words 'your tiny dancer' imprinted in the middle, with the date '6-6-12' centered underneath. The day we met. It was perfect. I embraced her into another hug and kissed the top of her head. We pulled away once more before she smiled and slid into the car. She gave a quick wave.
"Bye Jay." She smiled.
"Bye Soph." I said and waved.
Everyone else joined my side as we waved and yelled our goodbyes. She shut the door and the engine started. It was slow-motion as the blue car rode down the street. I love that girl. I miss her already. My tiny dancer. I miss my tiny dancer.

I felt my phone vibrate on my lap as I listened to the car playlist Jason had made me. I had one new text from Jason.
'Check your bag<3'
Curious, I leaned forward and I saw a glimpse of a shiny metal. I brought the bag closer to me and grabbed the object. When my tired eyes focused on the small details, I noticed it was a Claddagh ring. The band, two hands, and plume were silver, and the heart was gold. It was gorgeous and simple. I looked at the inside and engraved was 'Your Nobonez 6-6-12'. I looked at the note on my lap and gently picked it up and unrolled it.
Dear Sophie,
Baby, always be my tiny dancer? No matter what? This promise ring is so you won't forget.
~Jason 6-6-12
"Always" I whispered as I slid the ring on my left middle finger, face down so I could always hold the fragile heart.
I will miss him. More than anything.
But maybe, just maybe, things will go right for a change.
