~Rose~
Nate was stiff from beside me, making me almost regret breaking out. But it's not like I could control it.
Once we were a safe distance away, he released me. I was still ticked off, my sharp canines were so long they cut my lip.
He had his arms crossed. "Don't give me that look, Nathaniel." I snapped at him. "If you were his partner you'd lose your mind too."
His gaze softened and a ghost of a smile formed onto his face. "Damn it, it's so hard to stay angry with you." He said, shaking his head. I shrugged, looking innocent.
"I was born this way."
"But still," his smile dropped. "You almost got us caught."
"But you know I have restraint problems." I argued, digging my fingers into my long hair. "And pairing me up with another annoying-a** vampire is the worst thing you could do to me."
"Rose, just ignore him. Okay?" He asked me, stepping closer. "Just for the rest of the day, that's all." The look on his face was pleading, making my human disguise settle back into place.
"Fine."
It surprisingly went smooth, though more than once I could've sworn I felt his presence somewhere around me, but he wasn't there when I looked.
And one time when it was gym class, the last lesson, I risked a glance at him. He was sitting in a dark corner with his jacket off, showing off his strong arms and upper body even through his white shirt. He was just watching everyone. He had already finished the tasks the coach had him do, numerous ones to test his skills. He finished them with ease, impressively I might add, and then he just sat there against the wall, watching as the strict coach started picking on someone else.
I was stretching near Diana, watching him. I didn't realise I stopped stretching for a second until he caught me staring awkwardly at him. He smiled flirtatiously at me and winked. I glared at him, but he just grinned widely, showing his elongated fangs along with his pearl-white teeth. They practically glowing in the dark area he was in.
Jeez, can't he act human at all?
I looked away from him and continued my stretching before someone else caught me staring at him.
After almost stumbling out of the highly-packed locker room, I bumped into someone and almost fell. A hand shot out and caught me by the wrist.
Once I balanced myself, I took my hand back. "Thank you." I said to my savior, then froze when I glanced up at him.
He gave me a quick smirk. "No problem, Rosie." Fallon.
I groaned in frustration, clutching my head. "Why are you still here?!"
He opened his mouth to say something, then closed it as his eyebrows knitted together. He looked like he was straining to hear something.
I started to get anxious. Were we being watched or something? I also channeled power to my ears, listening for sounds. The school had emptied, only Diana and the twins were left taking showers after their workouts.
Suddenly I sensed something, just as Fallon's head snapped up and his gaze locked with mine. Then the big glass window shattered as something was thrown at it from the outside; a body.
In a split second before that happened, I lunged at Fallon and tackled him to the ground since he was in the direct path of it.
He landed on the floor with me on top of him, leaning on his chest for support. Shocked, I glanced at him and saw something in his eyes as he looked at me. Curious and grateful.
