Noah is fixing up Mirage in the garage. He pushed himself out from underneath the car. "Ooh, c'mon, baby, show me some, show me some... That oughtta do it" He got up and put on his cap. Reek comes in.
"Oh, this? This is a complete waste of your skills and my expertise", Reek said. Eclipse burst in.
"The hell you said?", she asked, glaring. Reek looked away from her.
"Think it came out pretty good!", Noah said cheerfully. He lowered the 2.0 car version of Mirage. It was now a mix of colors.
"I kind of agree with Reek...but at the same time not", Eclipse said. "It's just the color...doesn't suit"
"Well, I guess we can call it 'modern art' and... sell it to some cats in Soho", Reek suggested.
"No!"
"Nah, I'm not selling it", Noah said.
"What? Why? Is this about the 5-0 thing? ", Reek asked as Noah picked up the tools. "No, I told you, I did not ditch you! I was runnin' the give-and-go, I thought you knew the play! Aight, let's say I did ditch you, even though I didn't-- For your sake, I see your face, let's just say I did. I think all the blood, sweat and dead presidents I put into getting these car parts for you make us even steven"
"It's not that", Noah said.
"This car", Eclipse tapped the hood of the car. "Is special"
"This car is a jigsaw puzzle made of garbage!", Reek said and chewed on a Twizzler. "Here, I bet the joint don't even start" he holds the keys up to Noah.
"Bet?", Noah asked and Eclipse smirked. Noah didn't even have to get the keys. "Yo, Mirage!"
Mirage transforms. "Wooo-hoo-hoo, yeah! Ya boy is back! This dude said I wasn't even gonna start!"
Reek is in utter shock while Noah smiles. Eclipse crossed her arms.
"Uh-huh. Totally did not start", she sneered, giving Reek a side eye. She looked up at Mirage. "Good to have you back, Mirror"
"Hey!", Mirage complained then laughed. Eclipse smiled and brought her fist to his. They fist bumped. "Nice to see you too, kid"
Eclipse rolled her eyes. Her phone buzzed. She took it out and gave Noah a look.
"Go ahead", Noah said, waving her off. "I'll take it from here"
"Thanks", Eclipse said and ran out of the garage. Mirage looked down at Noah in confusion.
"What did I miss?" (You missed a lot, baby boy)
The midday sun beat down on the cracked asphalt, reflecting in the chrome of passing cars. Eclipse stopped at the sidewalk, waiting for the cars to pass. Once it was clear, she ran to the other side and jumped over a rusted, wrought-iron gate. "Had to be that far, huh?" she asked no one as she ducked under a hole on a weathered wooden fence, splinters catching on her worn jacket. She looked around the street, a maze of faded paint and overgrown weeds, searching for the red Freightliner. She placed her hand on her hips, a gesture of exasperation. "Where'd he go?"
Eclipse walked down the sidewalk, her boots crunching on broken glass, scanning all the parked vehicles. Then she spotted him right at the corner, his familiar silhouette a beacon in the urban decay. She frowned and jogged up to Optimus, the door opening with a pneumatic hiss. She hopped in, the familiar scent of oil and old leather filling her senses.
"Ah, decided to make me walk, right?", Eclipse complained, crossing her arms, a playful pout on her lips. Optimus chuckled, a low rumble that vibrated through the cab.
"It wasn't that far", he said, his voice a warm baritone. Eclipse shrugged, a small smile tugging at the corner of her mouth. She leaned forward and patted the steering wheel, her fingers tracing the leather.
"You're so mean", she said. "But I still love you"
Optimus started the engine, the powerful hum a comforting sound, and drove off.
"So, where are you taking me? Oh, wait. Before you answer that, Mirage's back into pieces", Eclipse said, leaning back on the seat, her tone shifting to one of mild annoyance. But it was a playful one. "Ok, so", she continued, "where are you taking me?"
"You will see when we get there", Optimus answered, his tone laced with gentle amusement. Eclipse's face lit up, her eyes wide with anticipation.
"Surprise? I love surprises!", she gasped. "Can I guess?"
"You want to guess?", Optimus asked, turning around a corner and heading to the open road, the city fading behind them.
"Yes! Let me think. Hmm...", Eclipse hummed, tapping her chin, her brow furrowed in concentration. Optimus waited silently for her to continue, the engine a steady rhythm. "I have no clue"
"Don't worry. We are almost there", Optimus said, his voice reassuring.
"'There'?", Eclipse asked, looking out the window, the urban landscape giving way to rolling fields. Optimus drove into the field, the tall grass swaying in the breeze. He stopped and let Eclipse hop out. "Woah" She looked around, her eyes widening in surprise. The field was a sea of wildflowers, a vibrant tapestry of colors. Eclipse crouched down and smiled at the daisies, their delicate petals a stark contrast to the city she had left behind. Optimus transformed, his massive form towering over her, and walked up to her. Eclipse straightened up, her expression a mix of curiosity and excitement. "So, what's the surprise? I'm very, very curious"
"Follow me", Optimus said and started walking, his footsteps leaving deep imprints in the soft earth. Eclipse turned into her bot form, her smaller frame moving gracefully through the field, her eyes darting around, taking in the beauty of the surroundings. They sat at a hill overlooking the town, a panorama of rooftops and distant lights.
"So...?", Eclipse asked again, her eyes sparkling with anticipation. Optimus smiled, a gentle expression that warmed her spark.
"Hold out your hand", he said gently. And Eclipse did as he said, her palm open and waiting. When Eclipse returned her hand, she gasped, her breath catching in her throat.
"Is this...?", she asked, looking up at Optimus, her voice filled with disbelief. Optimus nodded, his eyes filled with warmth. Eclipse looked down at her new Autobot insignia, a gleaming symbol of belonging. "Woah...I...I-I never thought I would have one" She closed her fingers around the insignia, her grip tight, and looked back at Optimus, her eyes filled with gratitude. "Thank you, Optimus"
"You're welcome", Optimus said softly and wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her close. Eclipse leaned into his embrace, her spark resonating with his, and held the insignia in her hand, feeling the weight of its significance. "I love you"
"I love you too", she whispered, her voice filled with emotion, the field of flowers a silent witness to their bond.
