So we ended up not going to school. He took the day off with me to explain absolutely everything.

"So I have to race now. Can I tell Courtney and Leah?"

"Absolutely not. I don't trust them."

"What if Kacey and Michael tell them?"

"I don't know. We'll worry about that once it happens."

"You act like the girls can't be trusted with anything."

"I'm just taking precautions. The more people that know the more everyone is in danger."

"Oh."

"So why wasn't you nor Jax at school today?," Courtney asked lying on her stomach spread out on my bed.

"Yeah, Mrs. O'harris asked us where y'all were and we didn't have a clue," Leah said sitting down resting her head against my headboard.

"Nothing happened get your heads out of the gutter," I said rolling my eyes.

"Knock knock," Jax said knocking on my door as he walked in with Kacey and Michael.

"Hey hot stuff," I said with a flirty smile.

"See what she does to me?," Jax said to Kacey and Michael.

"Oh come on I'm perfect," I said twirling my hair.

"Yes, of course. Now I wanted to talk to you privately that's why I actually came in here."

"Anything you can say to me you can say around the girls," I smiled.

"Okay...well I just wanted to thank you for last night. I was fully pleased," he winked.

"Shut up don't lie," I said rolling NY eyes.

"No but for real. The girls need to go."

"It's okay Avery. Call us later. We understand," Leah chuckled grabbing Courtney's hand.

"But I wanna know...," Courtney pouted.

Michael and Jax just stood their quiet as can be. And if course Jax and I knew why. Leah and Courtney just... Don't know why we're all acting this way.

"Call us later," Leah smiled as she drug Courtney out of the house. Jax sat down on my bed after he heard the door shut.

"So the first race is coming up. And you don't even race Avery. You can't lose. If you lose we lose a lot of money. Okay?," Jax said with a sigh.

"Okay."

"So we're taking you down Michael's road so you can practice. Trust me, we won't get in trouble."

"Stating the fact that street racing is illegal," I said with an eye roll. They just glared at me and Kacey threw a pair of keys to me.

"The car's in my garage," Jax said opening my bedroom door.

So we all followed Jax down to his garage and opened the door.

I spot on knew which car he was talking about. It looked like a fast car. Black, small, and it looked rigged. The tires had a yellow rim and there was a design on the front hood.

"You expect me to drive that? And not wreck your very expensive car Jax? Are you insane?!"

"Actually," he whispered to me. "It's Kacey's car. So its okay if you wreck it."

"Hey now," Kacey grumbled. "If she wrecks it your going to be sharing your win money with me."

"Deal," Jax said giving him a worried look.

"You seem worried man," Michael chuckled.

"Guys shut up I've drove a car before," I said with a laugh as I got in the car and started the engine.

"Now keep the speed legal until we get to my road alright?," Michael said shutting my door for me. I nodded and put the car in reverse so I could get out.

"Be careful," Jax sighed getting into his car with Michael and Kacey.

Jax speed and drove in front of me so he could drive to Michael's house. He's been to Michael's house. I haven't.

We got to Michael's street. It had six houses down the road. They were either abandoned or accompanied by gang members.

Jax pulled into Michael's house I'd assume, and got out. I pulled in behind him.

"So this is my house," Michael said getting out and shrugging. "Its not much but its liveable."

He was right. His house was white. But the paint was chipping, and his grass was choppy.

"So is your parents at work?," I asked. "No. They're dead. I live alone."

"You don't have grandparents that can take care of you?"

"I'm 17 years old. I proved to the court that I could live alone. I have all A's and I have a solid job. What else is there to look into? Oh! And my prison record is clean."

I raised my eyebrows and motioned to the race car.

"Whatever."

"Well let's go inside and eat. In starving," Kacey said walking into Michael's house.

Let's explain the inside of Michael's house. He had a mini fridge where a kitchen should be, with a microwave. In the living room he had a flat screen TV, and one of those little fold up tables. With three lawn chairs. Then, if you looked a little to the right, he had his mattress, with blankets all over the floor.

"So this is where you live?," I asked sitting down on Jax's lap. Who was on the lawnchair.

"Yeah...We can hang out a bit before we actually start," Michael said on his phone. "My girl's calling me."

"Same," Kacey said a little confused. "Courtney never calls me," he answered it and walked outside.

"Well...are you ready for this? Actually ready?," Jax asked.

"Ready as I'll ever be," I mumbled leaning my head back onto his shoulder.

"Okay," he said kissing me and wrapping his arms around my waist. "I'm sorry for putting you through this Avery. I'm such a jerk. You really don't deserve me."

"Who do I deserve?," I asked kissing him again and closing my eyes.
