Bleak skies, deteriorating buildings, cracked roads, and abandoned vehicles. All these came together to create a barren landscape as far as the eyes can see.

"Hahaha!"

Yet, laughter still resounded across the land.

"Wait up, Luffy!"

A woman's voice echoed through the quiet city. Her melodious voice seemed like the sole ray of hope in this worthless world.

"Hahaha!"

And yet, it was a man's laughter that really brought it life. Violent sounds of crashes rang as a dust cloud covered the streets. A giant silhouette appeared in the clouds.

"Rawr!"

A deformed monster resembling a dog emerged from the dust.

"Woohoo!"

A boy wearing a strawhat was saddling the beast while letting out a joyous laugh.

"Go go go!"

He slapped the beast's sides with his hands like it was a horse.

"Wait, Luffy!"

A woman soon followed, riding a similar beast. In contrast to her stead, this woman's beauty was too good for this world.

"You're going too fast!"

"Ah, my bad."

Luffy pulled the beast's ears and it stopped with a whine. He stood on the beast waving his hands.

"Sorry about that, Hancock."

Hancock's beast slowly approached Luffy. Hancock wore a smile while Luffy made an apologetic gesture.

"I'm not mad. I'm happy you're having fun. Just try to have fun with me too, okay?"

Luffy's face lit up.

"Of course. Life is no fun when you're not around!"

"Thank you."

Her beast stood next to Luffy's.

"Then, do you want a race through downtown?"

"Bet!"

Luffy sat down and held onto his beast.

"Where's the finished line?"

"The Great Tree."

Hancock donned a face filled with confidence.

"Alright, let's do it when we hear the next explosion."

She nodded and held onto her beast.

The two stared into the distance with sharp glares. They breathed in sync with their steed and each other as the world remained silent. And then—

*BAM*

An explosion erupted in the distance. The two beasts shot off without hesitation thus starting the race.

"Hahaha!"

Luffy's laughter mixed with the sounds of heavy footsteps as they zoomed through the city. They passed buildings on the verge of crumbling and shattered already cracked windows. The beasts ran through several feet deep potholes without losing momentum. With the empty streets as their playground, Luffy and Hancock were the epitome of freedom.

"I won!"

Hancock shouted with her hands in the air. Their race had come to an end in front of a gigantic leafless tree. The beasts lay on their stomachs trying to catch their breath.
