The next morning, we all met Bruno at the studio. The energy in the air was different, electric with anticipation. It felt surreal to be in the same room with a global music legend, but I could tell that Arc and Jihoon were both focused, ready to get down to work. We walked into the studio where Bruno was already set up, his warm smile greeting us as we entered.
"Hey, good to see you guys again," Bruno said, his voice relaxed but upbeat. He exchanged quick hugs with Arc and Jihoon, before turning to me. "Lila, I see you've been busy helping out as usual."
I smiled, a little shy, nodding at the compliment. "I'm just here to help however I can."
Bruno's eyes flicked over to Arc as he adjusted his headphones. "Alright, let's dive into it. I've heard the initial take, but I think we can push this even further."
Arc nodded, as if already prepared for the feedback. "Yeah, let's do it."
They went over the plan briefly, and soon, Arc was in front of the mic, guitar in hand, ready to lay down the track. Bruno was pacing around the control room, listening intently. As Arc sang, I could feel the familiar melody filling the space, but there was something different about this recording. It was good, but Bruno's sharp ear picked up on something.
Bruno stopped the music halfway through the take, looking thoughtful. "You've got a great voice, Arc. It's smooth, powerful, but there's something missing in this recording. When I first heard your live performance, I felt like there was something deeper in your voice. Like you were singing to someone, really trying to express something personal. Can we try that? Maybe take a different approach?"
Arc looked around thinking till his eyes landed on me. He nodded without hesitation, a slight smile tugging at his lips. "Let's try again."
Bruno nodded, offering a quick thumbs-up, and with a flick of his hand, the music started again. This time, Arc didn't focus on the lyrics or the music sheet. Instead, he stood still, looking at me through the mirrored glass of the recording room, his gaze locked on mine. I felt a shift in the air, a subtle change in the way his voice carried the lyrics.
As he began singing again, his voice took on a new depth, more emotion, more vulnerability. It wasn't just the words he was singing—it was the way his voice wrapped around each note, pulling meaning from the song that I hadn't heard in the first take. It was clear that Arc was no longer just singing. He was *feeling* it, channeling his emotions directly into the song, and it wasn't just about hitting the right notes—it was about expressing something raw.
I could see Bruno in the control room nodding, his face lighting up as the performance took shape. When Arc hit the final note, Bruno was quick to hit stop, a huge grin spreading across his face.
"That's it," Bruno said, practically bouncing on his heels. "That's exactly what I was talking about. That's the magic I was looking for. You brought something real into it this time, Arc. That's how it's done."
Arc stepped out of the booth, a proud smile on his face. He looked at me through the glass, a flicker of appreciation in his eyes. I felt the intensity of the moment. It wasn't just a recording anymore—it was a piece of his heart, laid bare through his voice.
The recording session continued, and the whole process was captured by the camera crew. It felt a little surreal to have everything we were doing on film, but at the same time, it gave the moment an almost cinematic feel. Arc, Bruno, and I were in the zone, adjusting the song, tweaking lyrics, and working together to make something amazing. The energy was high, and we were all fully immersed in the creative process.
During the lunch break, one of the staff members came in to take our orders. Arc, always precise and clear, ordered a simple sandwich with a side of salad and coffee. I didn't have to think too much before I made my order, mirroring his, "I'll take the same," I said.
