Later that evening – Outside Mr. Kim's Mansion
The sleek black cars stopped in front of the grand gates of the Kim family's main mansion. The towering structure loomed under the night sky, its cold exterior illuminated by the soft glow of garden lights. The atmosphere was suffocating, even before stepping inside.
Jin adjusted his cuffs, his face a perfect mask of indifference. Yoongi stood beside him, his usual lazy expression barely hiding the tension in his eyes. Namjoon exchanged a quick glance with Hoseok, both straightening their suits. Taehyung and Jimin adjusted their jackets, stealing glances at Jungkook, who remained silent, his face unreadable.
"Remember," Jin said without turning around, his voice carrying authority. "We are the perfect family tonight. No cracks. No flaws."
The massive doors of the mansion opened, and the air seemed to still. A butler bowed respectfully. "Master Kim is waiting in the dining hall."
With a final deep breath, Jin stepped forward, mumbling, "Let's not keep the devil waiting."
As they walked into the cold, lavish halls of the mansion, Jungkook couldn't shake the old terrific feelings he always gets whenever he comes to this mansion. The man waiting for them at the dinner table—their so called father—the thought sent chills down his spine.
He felt Taehyung's hand wrapping around his freezing cold one and gave a silent comforting squeeze it. A reminder, that he got his hyungs beside him. He is not alone.
But the eerie feeling of meeting that devil called their father didn't go away...he hates the man as much as he fears him. The devil had returned, and the masks were on. But for how long would they hold?
The moment they entered the grand dining hall, a chill settled in the air, colder than the night outside. The opulent chandeliers hung overhead, casting a golden glow that only served to deepen the shadows around them.
The lavish table, set with gleaming silverware and the finest dishes, seemed almost too pristine, too perfect, like a mockery of the reality that awaited them.
Jungkook felt his chest tighten. Despite the elegant surroundings, this place had always felt like a cage. The walls that once protected him, now seemed to suffocate him, reminding him of the years he spent trapped under his father's reign.
"It's ok." He heard Jimin's hushed voice from his left side, "Hyung's here, Bunny. Relax." That made Jungkook feel a bit better, but not enough to make him relax.
Their father, Mr. Kim, sat at the head of the long, polished table, his silhouette as imposing as the mansion itself. His gaze was sharp, calculating—like the predator that had long since learned the art of manipulation.
"Ah," Mr. Kim's voice sliced through the tension like a knife. "My sons, all present and accounted for. How lovely!"
Jin was the first to respond, his voice smooth, a perfect contrast to the venom that lay beneath his calm exterior. "We wouldn't miss it for the world, Father." His tone was almost rehearsed, but the slight twitch in his eye betrayed the facade.
The others followed, each bowing and greeting Mr. Kim with a careful politeness that didn't reach their eyes.
Jungkook stayed silent, his gaze locked onto the table, avoiding his father's piercing stare. The last thing he needed was to make eye contact and see that familiar woozy, calculating glint in Mr. Kim's gaze.
"Sit," Mr. Kim commanded. The brothers exchanged fleeting looks before sitting down, each taking their place with military precision. Jin on Mr. Kim's right side, Yoongi on the left with Hoseok and Namjoon beside him. Jungkook sat in middle of Jimin and Taehyung who was beside Seokjin.
