I awake to the awful sound of the alarm on my phone singing 'good morning', it's not a good morning if I have to get up early I complain to myself. Yet, I haul myself out of bed and pull the blankets up on my bed so it looks somewhat decent, grab my towels and head to the shower. Once I scrub every part of my body and shave I turn the water off and hop out with one towel around my head and one around my body and walk to my bedroom where I continue to get dressed in my work attire and brush my straight hair out and throw it up into a ponytail even though it's still wet, then I put on a couple coats of mascara seeing that my face looks pretty clear today, I don't think I need anything else, I grab my vans and head out of the house. Most people at this time of day would head to Starbucks to get something to drink before work, but instead I go to Starbucks because it's where I work. I pull into my assigned parking spot next to my best guy friend Jalen, they really aren't are assigned spots but we both have just made it a habit to park there no one else parks in our spots. Jalen is the sweetest guy you will meet, he is super caring but it takes a while to see that for most people because of his exterior, he is a total metal head, has the long hair and always wears band shirts and if that doesn't prove his point he started his own metal band. Jalen and I have been friends since my freshman year of high school, he was a junior at the time and we met during band camp and have been friends ever since! Before people start thinking that our friendship is weird because we're so close and start assuming Jalen and I like each other more than friends, everyone needs to know that Jalen has a long term girlfriend who is my age and her and I used to be super close before we had a blow out our sophomore year because Jalen, who was a senior had graduated, but we still had a couple weeks of school left and she flirted around with this other guy from our band and I was really uncomfortable with it and annoyed because at the time I liked the guy so I told Jalen and we all talked to see each other's point of view and we ended up talking through it but we haven't been close since and she seems to get jealous of Jalen and I, even though we literally call each other brother and sister. But Jalen doesn't let that affect our friendship he's always there when I need to talk or need advice and he gives the best hugs I have ever had.

"Hey Fag" I yelled to get Jalen's attention because he was already walking into the building. He turned around with a smile and flipped me off waiting for me to catch up to him. I locked my doors, grabbed my Starbucks cap and ran up to him.

"How you doing Mari?

"Pretty good, how about yourself brother?"

"Not too bad, Jazmin and I had an argument, so I didn't sleep very well." He admitted. As much as they were a cute couple, I didn't think she deserved such a great guy like Jalen, she didn't appreciate him enough, but me being the supportive little sister I just gave him a reassuring side hug and told him they would work it out. We walked behind the counter and greeted our other co-worker with a quick hello, grabbed our forest green aprons and started our long shift. We had a normal busy Sunday morning, with the older people getting ready for church and grabbing there black coffee, the families coming in our driving through ordering hot coco for the kids and something extravagant for the wife. Everything slowed down around 12:30 and I happened to be working behind the counter taking orders, while Jalen was making the drinks and our other co-worker was on drive though duty. I had just gave this regular customer, her change for her pastry, while Jalen finished making her drink and heard the door chime, signaling that another customer had walked in. I was busy wiping the counter down before the customer came to order that I didn't look up to see who the person was, when I hear a voice barely recognizable until I look up.

"Well, hello again." It was Jax, the jerk who refused to take his step brother home. Having to follow the stores protocol, I couldn't be rude to customers, so instead of acknowledging that I knew who he was, I pretended he was a total stranger.
