-PETE'S POV-

Both physically and mentally, the pain gets worse. Especially at night, which is why I like to stay at Patrick's. I wish I wouldn't have left.

I stayed strong for Patrick and for myself. I don't need Patrick worrying about me even more than he already does.

I heard a faint knock on my door and then it opened.

"Hey," my mom whispered, walking in and shutting the door behind her.

"Hi." I said as she sat on my bed.

"We're going on a vacation. Just you and me. I'm meeting up with an old friend in New Jersey. We'll be staying at a hotel." She said.

"When?" I asked, thinking of all of the things I had planned.

"This weekend. I have it all planned. Your dad doesn't want to go..." She told me.

"Oh, okay." I looked at my phone. The only way I'll be able to contact Patrick is through my phone. "How long do you think we'll be gone?"

"About a month."

"But I'm graduating!" I was worried.

"We'll be back before then." She said calmly.

I sighed in relief. I actually wanted to go to my graduation. "Alright."

"Start packing your things tomorrow." She got off of my bed and left the room.

I looked at the ceiling. I wish I could take Patrick with me. It would make things much easier.

When I woke up, I didn't really feel like getting ready for school. I took a shower and did my hair. I put on a t-shirt and some skinny jeans.

I walked to Patrick's house and waited at the door for a moment before hesitantly knocking.

Patrick opened the door and frowned when he saw me.

I gave him a confused look. "What?"

"You're hurt." He said and pulled me into a hug. I hugged back.

"I'm fine, though. There's more important things we need to talk about." I said, letting go of him. Brendon and Ryan walked up to us.

"HHEEEEYYYY." Brendon sang.

"Hey," Patrick said and we started walking to school.

No one talked for a while until Patrick broke the silence.

"What did you mean by 'more important' things to talk about?"

"I'm leaving for a while." I said.

He looked up at me sadly. "Where?"

"New Jersey." I responded.

"For how long?" He asked.

"About a month. I'm leaving this weekend. I'll be back for graduation." I said.

"I'm going to miss you a lot." He reached for my hand. I held his hand and looked at the ground.

"I'll miss you, too."

"Do you have to go?" Ryan asked.

I nodded.

"You can't graduate if you leave for over a month, I thought." Brendon said.

"Technically, no. But I guess I have to make up the days when I come back." I explained.

When we got to school, I stayed close to Patrick. Well, he refused to let go of my hand.
