(From Violett)

I saw a woman and a young boy walking through a stepped path that split a forest in two. The boy had his eyes covered by bandages. The woman was holding his hand and guiding him in each step. The woman looked up at the steps in front of her, trying to see the end of them, but the path seemed to go on forever. Exhaustion was showing clearly on their faces. How long had they been walking without any significant rest? Days? Weeks? She took a deep breath and tried to take another step, but her body didn't respond. It wasn't just the exhaustion stopping her, but a more primal sensation: Fear. She would have ignored that feeling if she hadn't heard a branch snap. Turning towards the source of the sound, she found a pair of eyes looking at them from where the sound had come. The beast approached them slowly, not bothering to hide the sound of its steps anymore. It knew that its prey didn't have anywhere to escape.

"Mother?" the child asked, ignorant of the situation and confused as her mother had surrounded him in her arms.

"It's nothing, I just wanted a hug..." the mother said, trying to sound as calm as possible.

There was nowhere to run, and she couldn't even tell his blind kid to go ahead while she distracted the beast. The only thing she could do was to embrace him, hoping that creature would end both of them swiftly, so that his child wouldn't realize what had happened.

"YOU THERE!!!" a voice broke the silence like a thunder from nowhere, and a figure fell feet first into the head of the beast, with enough power to push him against and through a tree.

The mother was speechless.

"Hahaha! I finally got you, bastard!" the young woman who had just appeared said with a booming voice towards the pretty much not alive creature. Then she turned towards the mother and her son, showing a very gentle smile, "Are you two alright?"

"A-ah! Yes, yes we are. Thank you very much!" the mother managed to say, still processing what she had seen.

"I'm glad. I have been hunting that guy for almost three days. I don't know what I would have done if he had hurt anyone" the young woman said, her clothes were dirty and tattered, making her story seem to be pretty believable, "Say, what are you two doing in this remote place?"

"We heard there is a saintess in the temple at the top of this mountain that can cure anything. We came from very far away to see if she can cure my son's eyes" the mother said, "but to be honest, I'm not sure if we can make it so far. I don't think I can walk anymore, and there might be other beasts like that one."

"Oh! I can help you with that!" the young woman took a container with water and a few apples from a small bag she was carrying, "Let's fill your bellies first, that way you'll have energy to walk again. As for the beasts, I think I got rid of most of them already. I'll stay with you and keep you safe until you leave the mountains."

"T-Thank you, thank you so much. I... I would love to repay you for your kindness and for saving our lives, but... we sold everything we had just to get here, I only have one gold coin left that I was going to offer to the saintess."

"Ah, don't worry about that, I don't need any payment. Now, can I see your son's eyes for a moment?"

"You want to see them?" the mother was taken aback, but couldn't really refuse the petition of their savior, so she nodded silently.

The young woman carefully removed the bandages covering the kid's eyes. She knew immediately that he had not been born blind.

"Oh, dearest mother, goddess Lilith, please heal this boy and restore his sight." she whispered.

A greenish light enveloped the boy's face for a moment.

"There you go, good as new."

"W-what did you do?" the mother tried to say, but was interrupted by her son.
