"Wake up Frank", my mom called from the doorway of my room.
I heard a click noise and light illuminated my room, causing me to squeeze my eyes shut and yank the covers over my eyes.
"Frank, it's seven", my mom said sternly. This phrase caused a reaction that made me throw the covers off my bed completely and check the alarm clock. Sure enough, she was right. I was thirty minutes away from being late. I heard a honk outside of the door.
Every day, my friend Chloe picked me up for school at seven sharp. I groaned in frustration and pushed my mother out, but before I could shut the door she bid me a happy birthday.
Birthday?
I must have forgot. That was shoved to the back of my mind when another honk from Chloe's black hearse sounded out. It was a hand-me-down. She was the Mortician's daughter, and this was one of the funeral home's until they decided they had no use for it anymore.
I called Chloe as I was throwing on fresh clothes. By the time she answered I was lacing up my shoes."Hello?" Chloe's voice asked. "Frank? We're about to be late".
"I know, I overslept", I was in the bathroom and brushing my teeth. "I'll be right out. Sorry."
"Okay, happy birthday", I heard the smile in her voice and she clicked off.
Chloe was a bubbly person, known for her split second decisions. She was a senior with me, and she was my best friend. I don't know where I'd be without lively, jumpy Chloe.
I scratched on my eyeliner swiftly and grabbed my book bag along with my phone in charger before speed walking out of my room. I didn't bother to close the door and bid my mom goodbye before running out into the rain.
I didn't know it had rained.
I got into Chloe's car as fast as possible and she quickly pulled out. We made it to school with barely enough time to spare. Gladly, we weren't late. She went to Calculus and I went off to music.
At lunch, I hung out with my group of friends at the ten seat tables that elementary schoolers would have no problem in. There was no room under the table.
On one half, from left to right it was Chloe, empty seat, Danny Worsnop, Kellin Quinn, and Vic Fuentes. On my side from left to right was me, Bob Bryar, empty seat, Jack Fowler, and Jaime Perciado.
Haley Williams was out with the flu and Juliet Simms was on a trip. Vic and Kellin flirted while Jaime glared out of jealousy, and Jack seemed not to give a fuck. Bob talked to us even though Chloe hated his guts, and Danny texted his friend Ben Bruce, who he had left from another school.
After a while, Chloe got bored and thought it'd be funny to get the whole cafeteria to join in on singing the infamous tune of happy birthday.
I sighed and waited for it to be done. When the bell rang, I abandoned them all for my next class. When the day was over, I met my group outside per their request. They all looked pretty excited and I didn't understand why."Guess what, Frank", Chloe said eagerly.
"Umm, you found a way for people to fly to Pluto?" I asked.
"No", Danny snorted in his.... his Danny voice.
"We're throwing a party for you", Kellin giggled.
"Umm, you guys aren't going trick or treating?" I asked, confused.
"We're all juniors and seniors. We're too old for that", Bob chuckled.
