My eyes flicker up to the wooden clock mounted on the wall. Every second I stare it feels as though time is going slower. I tap my foot on the ground creating an irritating sound for anyone sitting near as I count down the seconds.
Ms McCandid is still ranting about using our holidays as a learning opportunity and to see if we can set a task for each day. She is suggesting we set ourselves goals and aims to try and keep us engaged in learning and experiencing life as we are all headed to different universities next year. But honestly, she should take a look at her own advice.
Maybe she should set a goal to keep a husband for once.
I laugh internally at my joke, shaking my head to allow my hair to fall gracefully behind my back. I glance around at all the people in the class knowing I won't miss any of them and am pretty glad to hopefully never see them again.
Jared.
A moron I once made out with who then told everyone we had sex. But he was pretty cute; I'll give him that.
Molly.
A slut who would always copy my answers in chemistry tests.
Holly.
A nerd who I always copy off in chemistry.
As I am listing all the people I would much rather not have in my life the bell suddenly sirens indicating my freedom- for two and a half months at least or just until college starts! I must not have been keeping track of the time well enough. I jump up out of my seat and push through the crowd of people hovering at the door.
Didn't they even want to get out?
With my smile gleaming from ear to ear, I strut abruptly to my locker as fast as I can so I am able to get out of here as soon as possible. I bid my farewells to a couple of the girls who are on the cheerleading team alongside me even though I found them extremely irritating with their high pitched squealing and constant talk about the head of the basketball team, Jonathon.
It was so obvious he wasn't into them. He clearly hooked up with them while he was drunk at a party. They need to learn when a guy is saying no!
I make my way to my locker and I pull it open, tugging my bag down and shoving the books that are in my hand inside of the bag. I then proceed to sling it around my shoulder and slam my locker shut. My eyes glance around the halls as I look for someone I knew I needed to talk to before I went away on summer vacation but hopefully I would be seeing much more of him.
I am about to walk out the door to search for them outside but a deep voice calls from behind me causing me to stop in my tracks, "Not going to say goodbye, Clarke?" he coos, and I recognise his voice immediately.
"I was actually about to go search for you, Ace!" I smile, hoping he believes me. I had wanted to see him since our class together in second period but unfortunately our schedules clashed.
"I'm going to miss you," he pouts, opening his arms wide enough for me to walk inside. I wrap myself up in his long, muscular arms sighing into his chest.
"I'm not going to see you for a whole month and I don't even know what Uni I am going to yet," I look up at his chiselled jaw as he still squeezes me tightly.
"But Hawaii is going to be amazing and you'll find out in due time!" He chuckles, sounding slightly jealous.
"Yeah, but my family is going to be in Hawaii so it is obviously not going to be amazing!" I sigh not wanting to go for that exact reason. "You know my family."
