I look up at the tall apartment building in which I am staying at. The building wasn't ugly per say but it wasn't the most beautiful sight in the world. But I mean, I didn't have to look at it when I was sleeping inside the building. In my own room!
Knowing I have my own room to go back to does make me slightly happier but I would rather share a room with my family for a month than have to work here for a month.
The first day was exhausting and I haven't even done anything. The kids were loud and messy like expected and Grayson was as bossy as ever. I just couldn't get my head around why people would ever want to work with kids.
Anyway, I only have to do this for another four days and then I can go onto waitressing.
I checked the four week roster and Grayson and I move from the kids stuff to waitressing to the kitchen staff and then finally the running of the real activities, rock climbing, skydiving etc.
I was hoping we wouldn't actually have to sky-dive, we would just have to organise it all and make sure everything runs smoothly when we book people in. Don't you have to be specially trained to actually run the skydiving activity?
Anyway, that was all in the far future. I just have to take one day at a time.
I step into the building, walk over to the elevator and poke in the number of the floor and I start moving upwards. Tonight I just want to relax. Maybe go down to the beach before it gets dark and then get some nice food and eat in my room while watching a movie.
That would be nice.
The elevator doors open and I step out into the hallway and I slide my key into the lock and slowly turn it allowing me access to my room.
The first thing I do is rush over to my phone to see if Ace has texted me or phoned me. As I unlock my phone, I pull down the notification tab to only see a couple of Facebook notifications and a couple people liking my Instagram photos.
I could try to message him over Facebook but I doubt he would answer. But I guess it won't hurt to try. I open up my Facebook Messenger app and I type Ace's name into the search bar.
His profile picture of us at Prom pops up and I click on it. Prom was such a beautiful night. Our school had prom a couple of months before the end of school due to exams and stuff but it was still a lovely night.
Ace picked me up from my house and we drove to one of his friends places who then took our pictures. Our parents would definitely not approve of us going to the prom together so we decided on not even telling them.
Ace's friend took photos of us and one of them was his profile picture. Him smiling his arse off and me leaning over to kiss his cheek.
We looked happy in that photo.
It was one of the first times we were happy after the incident that happened in the mid year. And we weren't that happy after that either. Not until the end of school. We were both so caught up in trying to survive school and not completely flunk that it was just hard to talk.
Once I found out that we have both passed, for me it was only by the skin of my teeth, we both began talking to each other again.
I begin to type the message but delete it multiple times, trying to think of something to say that won't sound like I am too desperate.
Hey Ace, how are things?
-Clarke
I originally type but shake my head at how formal I sound. I try again.
