Y/N'S POV
Weeks have passed since that night, yet the memory still grips me like a vice. Every time it resurfaces, a shiver runs down my spine. The thought of stepping outside feels unbearable, so I don’t. Thankfully, as a writer, I can work from home—safe within these walls.
My phone rang, breaking the eerie silence. Seeing Jessica's name on the screen, I hesitated for a moment before answering.
"Please, Y/N… Just say yes." Jessica's voice was laced with desperation, her plea tugging at me.
Before I could respond, her voice softened. "Y/N, you've been distant since my wedding... I don’t know if you just need space, but we're your friends. You can talk to us." She paused before adding, "Was it Josephine? She took that picture of you and… what was his name again? Oh yeah, Jin! Is that why?" Her words were casual, unaware of the storm raging inside me. None of them knew the truth.
He was undeniably the reason, but my friends weren’t to blame. "Come on, I'm not mad at you guys. I’ve just... been a little busy, that’s all."
"Are you really not going to join us?" she asked, her voice carrying a hint of disappointment.
I sighed softly before replying, "Alright, fine. I'll come."
On Sunday, I arrived at Jessica’s new house—her home now that she was married. As I stepped inside, I spotted her along with two of our friends, already chatting. I let out a smile, walking over to them before settling down.
A few minutes passed as Jessica busied herself in the kitchen while the rest of us set the table. She mentioned that two more of our friends were on their way—along with a few unexpected guests. Judging by the amount of food she was preparing, it seemed like she was expecting around twelve people in total including us.
"Oh, that dummy! He's bringing over his friends." Jessica huffed as she stepped out of the kitchen, wiping the sweat from her forehead. I let out a simple "Ohh".
Something suddenly clicked in my mind, making my eyes widen. Without thinking, I quickly asked Jessica, "Does your husband have only six close friends, or are there more?"
"Only six. Why?" she replied casually, completely unaware of the way my blood ran cold at her words.
Soon, the other two friends arrived, filling the room with laughter and chatter. But my mind was elsewhere. Jessica was still expecting her husband and his friends...
"Jesssss!!" someone yelled before launching themselves at Jessica in excitement. None of us had a chance to react—it was her husband. But as my gaze drifted past him, my entire body tensed. The sight before me sent a chilling wave through my veins, draining the color from my face. My palms grew clammy, my breath turned shallow, and my stomach twisted in dread.
Six men followed behind him—nothing unusual. But among them, one stood out. One who made my blood freeze. One who haunted my nightmares, fueled my fears, and brought tears I could never explain.
There he was—the man who stole my sense of safety, the reason I locked myself away, dreading the outside world. His presence alone made my body tense, my instincts screaming at me to run. But I couldn’t. Not here. How could I?
