Dru’s POV
For the fifth time in the last three minutes, I saw a bright spot of red in the crowd. The stupid redhead had been following me all day, ever since I caught his eyes in the market. Dark black eyes the colour of despair and darkness, with bits of rainbow flecks in them like a kaleidoscope. No, more like shattered glass, shards that reflected your own fear, and stared deep into your soul, pulling out your past, all your memories, and more important, your worst fears. Eyes like that could kill. To all the other common market-goers, he looked like a normal 17 somthing with brown hair and hazel eyes. Perfectly normal good looking guy. But hey, I saw the paranormal, not the normal. Otherwise, I would have died while I was still in diapers.
Hey now, Dru.Don’t go thinking morbid thoughts, you’ve got a sucker to kill, people to protect. You don’t get a timeout pity party. Now get your ass up and go kill the thing! We can’t have any other innocent girls dying because of some fake pretty- boy, can we?
Sigh. Sometimes, I wish all i saw was a cute brunette guy, but again, I’d be dead.
Uh-Oh. The sucker was moving towards me now, closing the gap across the food court.
“Pretty-boy’s closing in for the kill, huh? Well he’s got another thing coming.” I murmured to myself, earning some strange looks from the shoppers around me.
Well screw you too. I’m saving all your butts, and this is the thanks I get? Some just reward. I scoffed.
“Hey there.” someone murmured, uncomfortably close in a Russian accent, snapping me out of my grumpies. A hand swooped down to brush a strand of hair from my face, trailing down my neck.
Woah. Hands off the merchandise, buddy boy. Who forgot to tell you a girl likes her personal space?
“H-Hi!” I mumbled, still startled.
Damn you Dru Anders and your awkwardness! You’re supposed to be coy and flirty, not frightened and awkward! You’re supposed to be drawing him in, not scaring him away!
“Do I know you?” I asked in a cool sultry voice, chuckling slightly. I finally turned to face the creep, who was STILL invading my personal bubble in a very non-platonic way. I could see how normal girls would think he was cute. If I wasn’t looking too hard and didn’t focus, he had wavy hazelnut hair that made a cute little curl around his left ear. He had a light spattering across a nose that turned up slightly. When I finally went to meet his eyes, I couldn’t. At first I thought he was staring at my neck, which is normal vamp behavior, but then I noticed his eyes were a little bit lower. My boobs. I’m gonna make you wish you woulda looked me in the eyes later, you pig.
“I think I would remember someone as hot as you, Pretty-Boiiiii” I murmured softly in his ear, drawing out the y. He smirked a-bit at the pet name I had given him, thinking to have already drawn me in.
In a couple of minutes, you’ll be wishing you never followed me and that your sorry ass was never re-born!
“Like what you see? Sadly, I haven't had the pleasure to meet you yet. My name’s James. Best remember it, ‘cause you’ll be screaming it later.” He breathed, emphasizing the word pleasure.
As if! Keep it down if you can, boy!
“We’ll see. My name’s Dru, and you better memorize it ‘cause it’ll be running through your mind all day.” I replied, smirking.
“Oh, a smart girl, eh? i like fighters...” He growled, his thick accent slurring his words and cutting his vowels short.
God, his creepy oil-spill eyes grew darker, trying to lure me into the false sense of security suckers use on their prey. Mortals don’t know what’s happened until the pretty stranger has their fangs in their neck, sucking out the ruby-red liquid they need to survive. Well, at least to not go insane. Suckers like to think they’re above everyone else, the snotty bastards, so going bat-shit crazy isn’t exactly on their to do list. I hear it’s also excruciatingly painful. Too bad for redhead, his little mind games only work on mortals.
