The SM family returned for another Christmas style release. The biggest change, however, was the disbandment of popular girl group S.E.S after promoting for five years. While Shoo renewed her contact, both Bada and Eugene decided not to renew and ended their contract with SM.
This left Shoo by herself on where to go to next. She the member with the lowest vocal range so she could not pull any vocal finesse her peers can. The only advantage she had was her fluency of Japanese. She could with financial support, return to Japan and establish a career. It was an idea she had. She would have more visibility than in Korea especially since it's natural mother tongue.
"You will be alright Shoo-ah. It wasn't easy when we had to say goodbye. People change in a few years. Don't let it consume you." Said Kangta patting her back.
"I should have known it would not last especially after H.O.T broke up. It's changing too fast for me. I need some time to breathe." Shoo said.
"We'll be your support. It won't be so bad. Let's stick together alright." Heejun said embracing her.
"Oppas I don't know what I'll do without you." She smiled feeling the love from both Kangta and Heejun.
"I feel so bad for the seniors like they're losing their teammates." Brian stretched his arms.
"It was bound to happen. I guess it was better with just the two of us. Let's be there for each other." Said Hwanhee.
Hyunjin, Boa, and Hana had an uneasy dinner time. Neither showed their true emotions. Hyunjin once again sneered at the two. It was clear the two were only focused on each other. Boah watched carefully as Hana sipped her hot chocolate.
"It's been a year to say the least. I have to hand it you Boah, somehow you got more popular than the last album, but don't let it go to your head. This is only the beginning. I won't forfeit my spot." Hana warned.
"I'm also surprised by how well your popularity. For someone without an album you know how to keep people interested. You still have a long way." Boah drank her cup.
The tension was obvious to those nearby. Isak and Jiyeon sat in another table, away from the girls.
Bomi and the girls were taking with Shinvi, another girl group from another subsidiary.
"How are things going over there?" Bomi asked.
"It's okay. I mean there are things that could've been done better. We're BARELY getting by." Sangeun said with a hint of anxiety.
"What's wrong? Are you girls getting crap from anti-fans too?" Jaeyoung asked.
"Oh nothing like that!! It's just we don't know if there are plans for us... We kinda got delayed, again." Yoo Soojin twiddled her fingers.
"Oh so you're having the same issues?" Yumi blinked.
"Unfortunately. It's just hard to break it through! With Baby Vox unnies dominating there's not much room for other girl groups. A lot of the popular groups have either disbanded or in hiatus. There's rumors that Fnkl may disband next year." Yoona gossiped.
That sentence caused Jihoon to look over them. It was something that he kept hearing, even Hyori mentioned about moving to other ventures. He recalled a phone call.
"There's really not much going on for us at this point. We went mature with our latest album, but it's not selling well compared our previous albums. The industry here is changing, I can feel it Jihoon. I think people are getting tired of the same gimmick. The idol thing may be getting stale. It was fun playing pretend, but I want to be serious. I want to show the real me, without the smoke and mirrors. Seeing you out there making girls go crazy is making this noona jealous. I want a piece of that action too, but to do that I can't play the same role." Hyori vented her personal frustrations.
She was restricted due to her idol reputation. Partially why their relationship has yet to take off is for that specific reason. Hyori felt like she's trapped in a bubble. Jihoon could only provide her emotional support.
All of this was coming through a slump in overall sales. Perfect Man did well to break their previous record but compared to the massive numbers of H.O.T, even he saw the decline in attention. Something had to change and right now.
