June 2003
"So your name is Jung Hana? We heard that you're gonna be our new member. I'm Ayumi nice to meet ya!!" Ayumi Lee greeted her.
Her round cheeks and dimpled smile were enough for Hana to shake hands.
"I'm Hyeseung, not Hyesung oppa from Shinhwa we're not related!" She clarified.
"Jungeum here. Wow you're like a copy of Rain oppa to a tee!!" She stated while touching her face.
"Unnie quit it you're embarrassing us! She gets a little excited with new guests. To be honest we haven't been doing all too well. We were told you would help us out. I'm the youngest of the group, Park Soojin."
"How old are you?" Hana asked.
"I'll be an adult soon and you?"
"You're a year older than me. Guess the maknae label will stick." She said with mixed reactions.
"Well that's a relief. Being babied all the time isn't my style. We don't have much but welcome." Soojin greeted her.
For the next two months Hana got reintroduced as the group's maknae. Many of her fans were thrilled at the second chance, but some were skeptical especially with her brother having the same opportunity.
Of all the girls she grew close with, it was Park Soojin. She also shared interests in fashion and knew how to dress.
Hana observed a beautiful makeup that Soojin had on. Her lips popped out in a good way. Her eyebrows had this natural trim that made her appear feminine. When her hair was flown down Hana was stunned by her beauty.
"Oh my gosh you're shining unnie! You're so flawless it's no joke. We totally need to share a picture."
"Wait- What are you?-" Soojin didn't have time to speak as the camera snapped. Hana posed cutely next to Soojin who blinked.
"Now I'm totally keeping this!" Hana grinned saving it to her gallery.
Park Soojin found herself a younger sister in Jung Hana. Unlike being around Hyunjin, Hana felt comfortable around Soojin. She was the big sister she always wanted. It was less motherly and more like an older bestie.
Two months later and Sugar was poised to make a return. Hana once more let her natural hair out. She sang the first verse and last part of the chorus. Her maknae like energy helped bring energy to the group. She appeared next to Soojin's in a model's pose. She embraced her from behind as they stared at the camera.
This would be one of Hana's greatest moments. She finally got what she wanted, a successful career and unnies who were nurturing. While Hana was getting comfortable to her new role, Shinhwa has finally made their decision.
"We're here right now because we made a choice now. It was clear to us that SM was never going to honor our agreement. They tried to exclude Dongwan but I wasn't going to leave without you by my side. We've outgrown SM Entertainment. We don't need them anymore to manage our group, we can manage ourselves independently. I have no doubts Lee Sooman will not be happy and he may try to sabotage us. Don't be afraid. We are destined to stay together as brothers. As long as we stay together, not even they can get in our way. Let's begin our move now." Eric Mun announced as they prepared to sever ties with SM Entertainment.
