The three girls sat on Calum's bed silently. Stella and Brooklyn impatiently waited for Avery to speak up about her night with Luke that seemed to have changed their relationship forever. Avery didn't know what to say, considering it was like any other night and she didn't know what Luke was telling the guys, who still sat in the den.
"What?" Avery played it safe, trying to stall as much as she could before she had to provide some kind of information. Stella rolled her eyes, settling into one of the pillows, "Fucking 'fess up," she said, scrolling through her Twitter feed, not really paying attention to what was showing up; it was a habit she had formed.
"What am I confessing?" Avery asked, continuing her stalling process. Brooklyn rolled her eyes and huffed heavily, "Tell us what you and Luke did and what you guys are now," she said. Avery cleared her throat, "I can't tell you what happened last night. I know he wouldn't be okay with it; I'm not even really okay with telling you guys. I know that's weird because we're always telling each other everything. But I feel weird telling you guys about last night," she lied. She tried to make it seem shady, but not to the point where they could exactly guess what happened.
"Luke already told us you fucked," Stella said, very obviously annoyed with the small amount of information she had obtained, "What more is there to say?" Avery was quiet. "Did you suck him off?" Brooklyn asked. Avery refrained from making faces of disgust, trying to disguise the fact that they didn't actually have sex, "That's none of your business," Avery said quietly as she looked at Calum's duvet.
Stella and Brooklyn exchanged a look but Avery couldn't tell if it was a look of appreciation or one of disgust. They sat in silence for a bit longer before Avery pulled out her phone, pulling up her messages with Luke. "What do I tell them?" she typed before she pressed send. She quickly pulled up Tumblr and scrolled through her dashboard, attempting to make it seem as if she hadn't texted him. He replied, "We're together but not dating. Tell them we had sex but don't go into detail. We'll talk about the rest tonight." She rolled her eyes and texted back, "Delete all these messages. They're not above reading through our texts."
She locked her phone and looked at Brooklyn, who was looking back at her, "Are you going to tell us or not?" Avery sighed, "We're seeing each other. Not dating. No big deal. I don't see why you guys are making it out to be such a big deal. Fuck, we weren't allowed to talk about you and Cal for the longest. The only reason we made fun of your sex lives is because we didn't have one. But now I do."
Brooklyn resituated as Stella took a sip of her water, "We're making a big deal of it because it's you and Luke. I mean, we knew you guys were close but I could see you fucking Michael before I could see you fucking Luke," Brooklyn stated. Stella snorted and then started coughing as the water made its way into her nasal cavity. The two girls looked at her confused, "You okay?" Avery asked sarcastically. Stella gave the two of them a thumbs up before retreating to the bathroom.
Brooklyn made sure Stella was out of earshot before she continued, "Did you not want to say anything because Stella isn't with anyone? Did you not want to make her uncomfortable?" Avery shook her head. "Is it me, then? Would you rather tell her and not me? I swear I won't beg her to spill if you don't want me to know," Brooklyn began to ramble. "No, Brooke, it's neither of those things. I know you and Calum are mostly okay with the banter about your sex lives, but Luke and I aren't. It's weird. We'd like what happens between us, stay between us, you know?" Brooklyn nodded, "I suppose so," she said as Stella rejoined them.
"If we start to date I'll let you guys know. It's not like I'm cutting you guys off. It's just that I'm not comfortable yet with letting people in on my sex life; even my two best friends. I don't know if I ever will be okay with it to be honest. But if I am, you'll be the first to know," she said with a smile.
They were all silent before Stella spoke up, "Does he make you happy?" she asked. Avery blushed slightly; it was a genuine turn of color, not one she forced along with the act, "Yes, Luke's always made me happy. He's brightened my life since the day we met."
Brooklyn suddenly remembered the night Avery had told her a secret about Luke. She figured that Avery hadn't told her secret to Stella, who was showering at the time. "Avs?" Brooklyn said, suddenly, "Does Stella know?" "Does Stella know what?" "Does she know that you're in love with him?"
