Laura and I planned to spend a week in Maui for our honeymoon. I'm going to be completely honest when I say that she was terrified of the idea of getting on a plane. Nonetheless, I talked her into it and held her spirits up the entire flight - even when she asked what would happen if the plane crashed.

Once we got to Maui, we checked into our hotel. Laura walked into the room and went straight for the bed. She fell onto her back, her arms spread out at her sides. I smiled. "Tired?" I asked.

She shrugged. "I feel like I should be, but I still technically don't need sleep," she said.

I pushed the door closed and shoved my suitcase up against the dresser. "We can sleep if you want. We have seven days to kill in this city. Losing one to sleep isn't going to hurt us all that much," I said.

She laughed and moved one of her arms, leaving just enough room for me on the bed. "Walk me through the plan?" she asked.

I crossed the room and sat down on the edge of the bed. She placed her hand on my back and let her fingers trace my spine. "We start with the Road to Hana.  Then we head on out to Waianapanapa State Park. We can hike the trail, find some of the fresh water caves there. Half of day three is spent at Haleakala National Park. Hiking, walking, taking pictures." I gave a small shrug. "Second half of the day is spent at Wailea Beach."

"Day four we go to Hookipa Beach and watch some severe daredevils surf the extreme waters," Laura said.

I smiled. "Right. And from there we go to the Maui Ocean Center," I said.

"Old Lahaina Luau on day five."

"And that starts at 5:45 PM," I added. I turned my head and watched her nod. Her eyes were closed, and for the first time in a very long time, she looked at peace. "Day six is just you and me," I said as I laid back.

"In this hotel room," she said.

"Mmhmm." She giggled. I bit down on my bottom lip and shook my head. "Day seven is us packing and getting back on a plane to head home," I said.

"Does that mean I don't get to see you half naked in a hula skirt?" she asked.

"That is exactly what that means," I said as I pulled her onto my stomach.  She smiled and pressed her hands to my chest. "Hey," I said softly.

"Hi," she whispered.

I moved my hands up to either side of her face and smiled. "Do you know how stunning you are?" I asked.

She looked up. "Nope." She looked back down at me, her lips turning up in a smirk. "Want to show me?" she asked.

I growled, locking my fingers behind her neck. "Gladly."

"This seat taken?" a woman asked.

"No," I said quietly. I assumed she wanted to take the extra chair back to her table. I wasn't going to stop her. Instead, she sat down. Without turning away from the window, I shifted my gaze to her face. "What're you doing?" I asked.

"Sitting," she said. "You look sad and lonely."

I turned to actually face her. "That's probably not that wrong of a judgment," I said.

"Why are you so sad?" she asked.

"How long have you lived here?" I asked. She shrugged. "Ever heard of Monster High?" I asked.

"The school where all the murders took place?" she asked. I nodded. "You were one of the teens, weren't you?" she asked.

"Tada," I said. I swallowed. "We lost a lot of good people," I added, pushing my hand through my hair.

"Heath, right?" she asked. Again, I nodded. "I'm Aurora," she said, holding her hand out to me.

I slipped my hand into hers and shook it. "Nice to meet you," I said. I tilted my head to the side.

"Likewise," she said.

Her skin was tan, something you didn't see often on monsters. Her hair was the brightest color of red I had ever seen. It was curly and pulled back into a ponytail, her bangs swooping across the left side of her forehead, completely covering her left eye from sight. The eye I could see was a dark amber color, the iris surrounded in a dark black ring. Her eye was lined with black eyeliner, and an orange glitter eyeshadow gracefully dusted the area just underneath her eye. Her top eyelid was done with a deep brown color, lightly fanning into more orange.

Her nails were long, sharp, and painted orange, red, and yellow - like fire. A small silver hoop hung on her right nostril. When she smiled, her extremely white teeth showed, her tongue hiding just behind them. And for the life of me, I couldn't figure out what, exactly, she actually was. Her skin was too clear for her to be human. And yet, I thought she was too tan to be a monster.

She patted my arm. "Phoenix. I'm a Phoenix," she said.

"Really?"

She nodded. "You just haven't seen my wings unfurl," she said.

I smiled faintly. "You have wings, too?" I asked.

"Of course. What kind of Phoenix would I be without wings?" she asked.

I shrugged. "I'd say you'd be beautiful either way," I said softly.

A light pink color rose to her cheeks. "Thank you." She cleared her throat. "Would it be too forward of me to ask you if you were free tonight?" she asked.

"Not forward at all." I drew in a deep breath. Abbey wouldn't want me to mope around all day, every day. "I'm free if you are," I said.

She smiled. "It's a date, Mr. Burns," she said.

"So much for getting some sleep, right?" I asked.

Clawd's laugh was rough and deep as he pulled me closer to his bare chest. "It's a honeymoon, Laura." He pressed a kiss to the tip of my nose. "No one actually sleeps on their honeymoon, okay?" he asked.

"Maybe that's just what movies want you to believe," I said.

He shook his head. "Nah. It's just you, me, and this bed. What did you expect us to do?" he asked.

I smacked his arm. "Screw you."

He chuckled. "Choose your words carefully, D." I groaned and rolled onto my side. He climbed out of the bed and stood up - stark naked. He walked to the bathroom before stopping in the doorframe and turning to me. "You taking a shower with me? Or am I expected to do that by myself?" he asked.

With a shake of my head, I got out of the bed and crossed the room. When I walked past him, he smacked my backside. I squealed and smacked his chest. "Watch yourself, Wolf. I'm tougher than I look," I said.

He grinned, crossing his arms over his chest. "Do your damage. I'll still love you, baby."
