Y/n's POV

Chaos erupted around us. The air was thick with gunpowder and blood, the metallic scent overwhelming my senses. Bodies fell like ragdolls, and the sound of gunfire echoed in my skull like a relentless drumbeat. Elisa was fighting beside Grandpa, both of them holding their ground with a ferocity that sent fear rippling through Joan's men. Edmund had been ordered to protect Jenny, keeping her away from the carnage. And Kira... Kira stood beside me, torn between the battle and me.

She wanted to go, to fight. But she was afraid to leave me behind. I could see it in her eyes the hesitation, the fear. Without a word, I reached toward Edmund, taking back what was mine. My karambit. Kira's face paled as she saw it in my hand. "Y/N, don't"

"I'll be fine," I cut her off, my voice firm. I wasn't about to let my grandfather and aunt fight alone for my sake. She grabbed my wrist, her grip tight, desperate. "Please, just stay here" But before she could finish, my eyes darted over her shoulder.

A man was approaching her from behind. My body moved before my mind could register. One swift motion. A clean slice across the throat. Warm blood splattered across my face as the man staggered, his hands clutching at the deep gash before he collapsed, lifeless. Kira gasped, her body stiffening, but I had already moved on.

Another enemy lunged at me, but I was faster. I jumped onto him, using my weight to push my karambit deep into his skull. His body convulsed before going limp. Jenny whimpered from behind Edmund, unable to bear the sight anymore. She buried her face against his side, trembling.

I barely had time to catch my breath before I felt Kira's presence beside me. She didn't hesitate this time. She grabbed one of my karambits from my hand and flipped it in her palm, the blade glinting under the dim light. We locked eyes. No words were needed.

A strangled choking noise came from behind me, and I turned just in time to see Kira pulling her weapon free from a man's throat. His body crumpled to the ground at my feet.

I exhaled sharply, giving her a small, approving smile before we pushed forward together. Gunshots rang through the air, whizzing past us, but my focus was elsewhere.

My eyes found Joan.

His gaze met mine from across the battlefield, and a slow, sinister smile crept onto his lips. I didn't think. I ran. He raised his gun, but I was faster. With a flick of my wrist, I threw my karambit. The blade sank deep into his shoulder, and his scream pierced the air. I smirked as he crumpled to the ground, clutching his wound in agony.

I walked toward him, slowly, deliberately. His pained breaths were ragged, his body trembling as I loomed over him. I yanked the blade from his shoulder, twisting it as I did. His scream grew louder, more desperate.

"How does it feel?" I whispered, my voice laced with venom. I pressed down on his wound, making him writhe beneath me.

"The pain you're feeling now?" My voice wavered as rage bubbled inside me. "Multiply that by a thousand, and maybe just maybe you'll understand what my mother felt that night."

Her face flashed in my mind.

Her broken, tear-streaked expression.

Her shaking hands reaching for me.

The deafening gunshot.

The warmth of her blood splattering onto my skin.

I lost control.

I punched him. Hard. His head snapped to the side, blood spurting from his lips.

"She cried for help!" Another punch. "She begged for mercy!" Another. "And you" I gritted my teeth, my knuckles throbbing, "you shot her like she was nothing!" Joan coughed, blood trickling down his chin. His eyes were unfocused, his body slumping beneath me. I wanted to end him. But then

"Mom!!" I heard Jenny's voice. My world screeched to a halt. I turned just in time to see her.

Kira was struggling against two men, her movements frantic, her breath coming in short, sharp gasps. Her eyes met mine for a fleeting second just before one of them plunged a knife deep into her stomach.

No. No. No.

A choked sob tore from my throat. "KIRA!!" I screamed, my voice raw with terror. I sprinted toward her, my vision tunneling, my heart pounding like a war drum. Nothing else mattered. Adrenaline burned through my veins, blurring everything around me. The gunfire, the screams, the chaos I didn't care. I didn't think. I didn't hesitate.

I slaughtered them both. The first man barely had time to react before my karambit slashed across his throat, warm blood spraying my hands. The second reached for his weapon, but I was faster. I drove my blade into his chest and twisted. His body convulsed before collapsing, lifeless. I let them fall. I didn't care. All I could see was Kira.

She was swaying, her breaths shallow, her hands pressed weakly against the deep wound in her stomach. Blood seeped through her fingers, staining her clothes, dripping onto the ground.

"Kira, I got you" I reached for her.......A deafening gunshot rang through the air.
