A week later...

Doc Siesmic: CRIMINALS!!! ALL SO IGNORANT IN YOUR CRIMES AGAINST MOTHER EARTH, AND ALL AT LARGE!!!!!

Standing at the top of the Washington Monument, Doc Siesmic graced the civilians below with an appearance.

Doc Siesmic: And THIS...THIS IS WHAT I MUST DO FOR THE S-

*ELBOW*

Apex Predator hid behind the shadow of the tall, 500-foot monument and flew up behind Doc Seismic. He nailed him with a clean elbow to the throat and dropped his body on the grass, where authorities put him in cuffs.

Apex Predator: Cecil, pick him up off the ground. Police have him detained.

Cecil: Nice work, kid. Think you can make another detour?

Apex Predator: That depends on how the other Guardians are doing against the Lizard League.

Cecil: They're almost wrapping up.

Apex Predator: So Bulletproof and Immortal are working out.

Cecil: Yeah, they beefed up the team pretty good.

Apex Predator: So where do you need me to go?

Cecil: Midnight City. We've got reported sightings of Darkwing.

Apex Predator: Didn't he have a sidekick? I checked through his files with relatives and he had an adopted son who was homeschooled.

Cecil: Could be or could not. With these sightings are disappearances, all of them crooks. We haven't been able to confirm a single body, but we know they were gone at the same time as these sightings.

Apex Predator: Ok. So, you want me to observe and report?

Cecil: Exactly, I'd give you a gold star.

He picked up the pace and flew across the United States. Cities became distant and then reappeared again until he arrived close to Midnight City.

There, the sky turned from clear and blue to dark red and malignant

There, the sky turned from clear and blue to dark red and malignant.

Apex Predator: What caused this?

Cecil: A curse by a dark Magician back in 2002. No matter what time of the day it is, the city's trapped in the night cycle. Crime thrives in the dark, so it used to be almost 80 percent higher than every else. Darkwing brought it down to nonexistent levels but with his death, it increased until recently where it's been dropping down dramatically again.

Apex Predator: Sounds like a good thing, all things considered. Killing thugs is normal. If the public reputation of heroes wasn't derived from a no-killing rule, I'd be doing the same thing.
